As someone who has been on pooshlmer AND /a/ (since /touhou/ opened, actually), I can honestly say there's no difference in the communities. Each of them tries to smear shit around and paint the other as being full of gaiafags, but it's the same damn thing.

Touhou is just becoming more popular, and neither 4chan nor pooshlmer has more of the 'blame' for it.

Which is funny since I can count the amount of westerners that actually own/bought a copy of touhou on one hand.

It was fun for a while. Now I know a ton about it and have a huge amount of images on my hard drive but I'm no longer actively searching to increase my collection nor am I going out of my way to join in Touhou 'discussion'. Doing something else now and probably won't look back until the next game or some good new material.

the reason people bitch like this all the time is because there isnt a good touhou community, every community either sucks or is an image board and is thusly tainted with the blackened heart/penis of anonymous.

I love touhou but its not as fun if i cant go some place to discuss things without shitstorms every 2 posts

All we really ask is that you play it, and discuss the games.

The bitterness comes from bullet dancers like myself who saw touhou bring new found interest into danmaku, only to have it prompty crushed when the meme fags caught on.

See look at MB threads or threads on VNs, that is what touhou threads need to be like. plenty of game discussion mixed in with character worship.

Also to be honestly it isn't bad enough to warrant bitchy threads, it's gotten better and was much worse when it was on /a/ with all the normal fags there.

The difference is that the touhou games give little to no character-depth compared to VNs or Melty Blood. Everything regarding a character's personality and so forth in the Touhou series is presented through literature and manga, both official and doujin.

The games are all about GRAZE MOAR and not playing on easy mode.

Back when STB just came out there was a stickied megathread in /v/ on it that was a great example of game discussion and in hindsight it probably would have been good to screenshot it.

Thinks like discussing blindspots in certain cards, helping each other and giving good advice to improve, etc. I understand that would probably be impossible now because the ratio of decent players to people who have no cule is way too low, and it only works in MB threads because this board is loaded with decent fighters.

Places like animesuki are full of the sort of 15 year old "I wuv Sasuke-sama" idiots that make it so potentially embarrassing to like anime or other "obscure" Japanese things. As for community - well I, as well as any normal person, am sceptical of anything calling itself a community when the "residents" have never even met or seen each others faces. 4chan may be full of trolls and people being flamed but that's because we're all anonymous (even people with names/tripcodes or forum accounts are still anonymous) and it's natural to freely speak your mind when you have no fear of any real repercussions. That's what makes places like animesuki even more pathetic than they already are - they seem to have failed so much in real life, they've retreated into a fake community of falsely jolly and polite "friends".
