Now let me tell you about my woes. I can't ever go past the second or third day because I always play this game while drunk because it's comfy, but between the fucky chinese key bindings I need to learn over and over and the vague "special" recipes the fucking known characters bark out, I always fuck up their orders and burn the shit or simply don't know how to make something they'd like if I'm missing an ingredient they hinted to want.

The fact that TAB pauses the game sometimes really feels like cheating because there's a lot of time to take into consideration all the guest's preferences and find a good base recipe but man I feel the game would sometimes be impossible without it (Youmu's tests).

I don't thinking pausing is really needed as I can easily keep up with what's going on even on level 3. I only pause when I need to look at the bio for a character to see what they like and dislike as I forget a lot.

Same thoughts here. I really wish there were a mode which keeps the time going with no pauses ever. I think youmu's tests would still be doable, I've done them all with barely any pausing and with one third of the time still on the clock for each.

A good amount of dialogue is still good. For example, tewi talking about how reisen got punished for mixing poison in the patients' medicine, then revealing she did it herself, was hilarious.

I think the writing in the game is overall very nice, of course it dabbles in the Flanderization of some characters more than others but it never goes completely off the rails and more often than not the effect is that it's just fittingly silly for such a silly game plot, without going overboard with obnoxiousness.
