Lee is a boy who comes from a very wealthy family and has been protected by his family all his life. One day he decides to move out of home and study abroad. In Lee's new university, he meets Sue who protects him from bullies who tease him for being a dork. In turn, Lee promises to be Sue's close friend and they eventually fall in love with each other.

After Sue wins a "Sweetheart Queen" competition, she becomes known as the school "Sweetheart", but during this time, Sue's father goes bankrupt, flees, and leaves her mother behind. Using Sue's father as an example of failure, Sue's mother forces Sue to date someone wealthier, so she tells her to break up with Lee. After promising a date with Lee and escaping her mother, Sue is hit by a car and rushed to the hospital before Lee is able to prove his wealth with a wedding ring. While Sue is undergoing surgery, Lee calls her because she did not come to the date on time but Sue's mother picks up the phone instead.

Because she does not know Lee's true identity, Sue's mother lies to Lee, telling him that Sue has gone to Europe for an arranged marriage with a wealthier person. Due to this misunderstanding, Sue and Lee lose contact. Thinking that he got dumped by his first love, Lee undergoes a makeover and becomes a playboy/womanizer.

Three years later, after hearing Sue's familiar voice on the radio as a DJ, Lee decides to buy the entire station in order to be Sue's boss and seek revenge. However, when Lee sees Sue dating other people, he comes to realize that he stills loves her.
