A stupid question about hip padding, how are they supposed to be positioned? I got some hip pads a little while ago, but they're really awkward. I figure I'm doing something wrong, or took bad measurements. They're also too wide for my body so I'm going to have to buy new ones, so it's better to figure out if I just took retarded measurements.

Honestly it's really hard to position them well unless you hit that sweet spot out of luck. It can take a ton of finangling to get them looking right. You probably already know the general idea, long part goes down the side of your legs, part that stick out goes over your butt.

General rule of thumb I hear though and generally try to stick to is that when viewing from the front the pad shouldn't curve, it should be a straight line down.

The other thing a lot of people tend to get wrong, myself included, is position them too low. Sometimes hitching them up a little bit can make them look a lot better. Obviously not applicable in all cases but it can be something to keep in mind if you feel like it's just not looking right.

What pads did you get?
I got the 2" fabric covered pads from DAME IIRC and found them a bit big and stiff, but that's probably on me for not getting 1" or 1.5" ones.
As for placing them, I find a mirror a necessity, but it still takes ages to get them in a spot that looks right as well as even with each other, it's a huge pain.
