Anon, as one writefag to a potential one, just go for it.
Read a book that's not some random, (or Cormac McCarthy, he has terrible punctuation and it does impact the quality just a bit, good stories though) and run with whatever concept you have. The major thing is the pacing, since you want stuff to happen, but maybe not at breakneck speed, so put in just a little filler on characters generally interacting. You'll know when you have the right balance, I think.
Plan out what you want to happen, don't have one-dimensional characters who only have one single purpose, give depth and character to the well, characters etc.
Read enough, good or bad, and you'll pick up on what's annoying to read, what's good, and what you think you could improve upon/take in a new direction.
The only thing you could possibly waste is your own time, since if it turns out that by some magical happenstance you are unable to pull it off, that's the actual worst case scenario. And I think that you probably have that in you.
Not that it'll be instant, but slow and steady effort will allow you to build up something you can feel proud of.

Thank you for the genuine advice anon, it means a lot. Wasn't expecting it.
I've tried my hand at doing much, much shorter writing in the form of single posts, but they've never been done with the purpose of a larger narrative, or any to begin with. Just describing situations as you'd see in most any character thread. In any case, every time I've went at it, it takes me a pretty hefty amount of brainwork to come up with and put ideas into words, so trying to flesh out an entire story is daunting. Never really content with it either. I've struggled with writing (creative works in general, I think) since school, playing with words just isn't one of my strong points.
Is it really as simple as just consuming large amounts of literature? I can see the value of coming across 'bad' stories, whatever that might be, as long as there's an active effort put into analyzing why it might be bad.
Don't think I can promise anything right now, but I'll mull things over more. The uptick in stories here has been an absolute joy to read, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me wanna pitch in too. Thanks again.

As you follow Sanae up the stairs to Moriya Shrine, you have to admit that this place is growing on you. While the Tengu have been causing a bit of trouble when Sanae isn't around, it's a minor concern compared to life in the outside world. Judging by the look on Suwako's face, she disagrees with your opinion. "Momiji giving you trouble, huh? I'll need to talk with her about the repercussions of bothering the... guest of a curse goddess."

Sanae quickly objects, "Momiji isn't like that. She probably just didn't know. There's no reason to start a feud with the Tengu over a miscommunication!" Suwako shrugs, "It's definitely a miscommunication, but it's also about setting an example. If you let things like this go unpunished, others will wonder what else you'll let slide, and soon enough, you'll be on the streets." Sanae doesn't seem to agree but doesn't push the matter further.

Turning her attention back to you, Suwako begins pouring a bowl of sake, "Enough of that. Let's not talk business when we have a guest. Now, Anon, I know you must be thirsty, so I dug up some of my best stock. Literally dug it up, that is. I have to bury the good stuff so Kanako doesn't drink it all." Kanako scowls but stays silent after glancing between you and Suwako.

You try to explain that you're not much of a drinker, but Suwako insists, "You'll like it, Anon. It's... suitable for you. Hehe, anyway, who do you think you are turning me down? I only present myself and my sake; I can do nothing else." There's a pause after Suwako's response. She seems rather pleased with herself, while Kanako awkwardly coughs at that last remark.

You try to explain yourself again, but Suwako simply stares at you blankly. After a few more moments of silence, Suwako pushes the bowl toward you with an expectant look. Hesitantly, you force down the sake, coughing at the unfamiliar taste of alcohol. Returning to her normal demeanor, Suwako chuckles at your reaction, "I guess that was a bit stronger than what you're used to. Still, good stuff, right?" You decide to bite your tongue and just nod.

After dinner, you were invited to live at the shrine. With your hands full helping Sanae, you quickly fell into a routine. Sanae is a sweet girl, and you get along very well, though she's a bit obsessed with pushing Gundam stuff on you. Kanako avoids you. While it stings a bit that one-third of the Moriya household is going out of their way to steer clear of you, at least you don't have to worry about a war goddess being aggressive towards you.

Suwako is a strange case. She's very friendly, if not a bit too friendly. She acts familiar with you even when she shouldn't. She'll try to get you involved in activities she swears you love, and if you don't show interest, she'll give you that blank look of hers. Beyond that, she's a bit touchy-feely. You guess the whole "she's actually a 5000-year-old dragon goddess" argument does apply here, but it's still a bit off-putting.

Apparently, Gensokyo has a problem with "Incidents." As Sanae explained, the concentration of powerful beings in such close proximity leads to conflicts breaking out quite frequently. The saving grace is that there are established systems to prevent these conflicts from causing too much damage. It might seem strange to have gods and all-powerful yokai fighting it out in bullet hell battles, but you guess it makes sense given the context.

All that aside, Sanae and Kanako had to go to the human village to resolve an incident, leaving you and Suwako to take care of the shrine. To make matters worse, a celestial (because angels are a thing here) is fucking with the weather as part of this incident, causing heavy rain across Gensokyo.

Nevertheless, your chores haven't really changed, and since no one will be visiting the shrine in this weather, you only need to worry about housework. You were concerned that Suwako might be even stranger than usual, but she seems to be sleeping at the moment, so it's not an issue—or so you thought. When the time came to clean Suwako's room, she wasn't there.

Feeling a tad concerned for the girl, you search the house from top to bottom looking for her. It's only after an extensive search that you notice a figure out in the rain. Hoping you weren't about to be eaten by some rain Yokai, you bundle up and go out to the figure.

As you get closer, you clearly tell it's Suwako. Before you can ask her what she's doing out here, she turns to you and asks, "Why do you hate me?" Caught off guard you can muster a response before she continues, "You don't have to deny it. I can tell you're avoiding me and don't seem to enjoy spending time together."

Once again, you try to respond to Suwako's sudden accusations, but an overwhelming sense of dread grips you. Growing more agitated, Suwako continues, "Have you grown tired of me? Have your affections shifted over the years? I suppose it's only natural, but you..."

Suddenly, misty forms of white serpents with red eyes emerge from the ground all around the shrine. Gasping for breath under the weight of their judgment, Suwako continues, "You made a vow to me! You pledged yourself to me! How can you just abandon me after all I've done for you and your people? How can you leave me..."

Summoning the strength to shout a denial, you affirm that you do not know what she's talking about. However, instead of calming down, Suwako becomes even more enraged, "You swore everything to me, and now you feign ignorance?! How-..." Suwako falls silent, and the serpents begin to retreat, "It has been many centuries, I suppose, and you were born in the outside world where the power of reincarnation is weaker."
Feeling confused, you express your bewilderment at her mention of reincarnation, which elicits a smile from the goddess. Letting out a sigh, she responds, "Your haplessness is unmistakable. I must seem mad to you. You see, you are my consort, though it has been many centuries since the red threads of fate connected us."

Anticipating your question, she shrugs and says, "How do I know? Call it a goddess's intuition. Kanako thinks I'm crazy, but she's just an old hag who hasn't been with a man in her thousands of years of life." Suddenly looking concerned, she adds, "But it is troubling that you don't remember anything. Normally, you recall some things, even if the memories aren't that accurate."
Clapping her hands and accidentally splashing you with the water that has somehow collected on her clothes without getting them wet, Suwako exclaims, "I guess I'm going to have to joggin' your noggin. C'mon, I know what to do." With that, she leads you to the divine lake.

Producing a knife from somewhere, she lightly cuts her palm, and blood begins to flow. The snakes return, significantly smaller in size, and start circling the blood. Turning to you, Suwako says, "Sorry in advance for this, but you're not giving me any other choice." Before you can ask what she means, she picks you up and throws you into the center of the snake ring. As your head submerges in the water, your vision fades.

You answer that you have come to make an offering on behalf of your people. She sneers at that, "What pathetic offering has your clan mustered? Do you intend to appease me with a sip of sake?" You present only yourself and your sake; you can do nothing else. Looking down at you with disdain, the goddess nods, "Indeed, you are wretched. Still, I pity you, boy. Out of that pity, I shall offer you a pact: Serve me and have your clan present offerings and I will refrain from punishing them until they displease me more than they already do." You could only give one answer to such an offer.

The years passed quickly from then on. You presented your clan's offerings to the goddess and she provided her protection. Slowly you built a grand shrine atop the mountain and after receiving orders to tend to every one of your goddess' needs, you sired a line to tend the shrine.

As rudely as you were forced in, you were pulled out of that... memory? Regardless, Suwako pulls you out of the water and asks, "Do you see now?" As you nod, she smiles, "Good, now let's get you out of those soaking clothes and warm you up~"

You've just moved into a vacant hut on the mountain after insistence of a group of powerful tengu and have spent the last couple of days sorting through all the boxes.
Thankfully you didn't have to move the boxes yourself, your benefactor had arranged a small army of tengu to pack and fly all your belongings over, although they weren't exactly thrilled about it.
While your belongings arrived intact, the tengu weren't exactly keen on organizing it first, leaving you to figure out where everything went.
Sorting through it all was not how you intended to spend your first few days here, but atleast it is all behind you now.

You wince as all the fatigue that has been building up hits you at once, causing you to stumble and fall to your knees.

You do manage to squeak out a question, but in the form of an "Uhhhhhhhhh..."

She looks down on you with a graceful smile "I wanted a human, and you caught my eye. You're mine now" That was it. No explanation on why she wanted a human, so why you in particular. It made sense to her so she acted on it, and nothing else mattered. She she strides down the village streets, you pray for some miracle to save you as you sure as well don't wish to find out her plans for you. Your miracles arrives in the form of Hakurei Reimu holding a basket of groceries. Yes! The protector of the village, the miko that faced down gods and laughed! Surely she would lay down the law and prevent your kidnapping. The two of them stare each other down. The next few moments stretch into an eternity. Then Reimu continues down the street, ignoring the both of you. Someone was choosing her battles today. How bad would a yandere Reimu be?

She's effectively a supreme authority within Gensokyo, with only the sages being above her, and they don't actually have any direct control over her. Virtually no-one would have the power to oppose her, and the few who do wouldn't give much of a shit. Yukari would probably just see you as a good way to make Reimu do what she wants, for instance.
Your only likely allies would be Marisa and Kasen, and maybe people like Mamizou, if she's in a good mood. At least, you'd need someone to help you escape Gensokyo, since staying there is not an option.
Of it really came down to it, a truly obsessive Reimu would likely just go all-out and destroy her "best friend", if necessary, as well as any other collaborators, and end up chasing you down in the Outside World herself. Yukari might even help her track you down, if only to get her back to work. It would probably be easier than trying to set up a new shrine maiden or convince Reimu to stop being deranged.

I've put a good bit of thought into this, there are only two places you could realistically hide long enough to confuse her innate intuition
1)current hell under the protection of someone as strong as yuuma and in one of the circles cut off from mortals. Like seen in WaHH theres places Reimu has a hard time entering and exiting and you could hide there for a time
2)Kasen's Senkai is a place cut off from the rest of the world and even Reimu has a hard time finding her way inside, since its very cut off you'd have some time come up with your next moves with a sympathetic girl like Kasen
3)not a real option but the moon is almost impossible for Reimu to get too without help
4)The outside world could work as Reimu would lack a good bit of her power there, maybe. However someone like Yukari could easily capture you and bring you back since Reimu would abandon her duties till she finds you

Senkai and Hell probably wouldn't keep Reimu out for long. Lotus Eaters notes that Reimu is one of the few people who can easily enter the Land of the Backdoor, for instance, so her border powers clearly let her travel to other worlds easily. She'd just need to practice a bit harder, and wouldn't you know, the usually laid-back shrine maiden just got a whole lot of motivation to actually put in the effort now.

A motivated Reimu who knows that you're hiding somewhere she can't easily get protected by people she can't easily beat is going to become a true Oni Miko the likes of which Yukari is going to have to preemptively nip in the bud by personally ensuring you can't escape her otherwise she'd have a monster on her hands

Isn't that the beauty of it? Yandere 2hus are in 90% of cases more powerful than you so they almost always win by default, with a contender in the picture it might get more interesting than just the plain old kidnapping. Whether one completely blows the other out of the water or they're evenly matched, it even gives both of them a reason to *be* yandere. Even a human vs fairy might present an interesting conflict if neither wants to back off, a fairy can't kill a human in a 1v1 but the human can't get rid of the fairy for more than a few hours at a time.
