Following this sentence, Handley must serve three years of supervised release and five years of probation. Both of these sentences will start upon his release from jail and will run concurrently. Handley also agreed to forfeit all seized materials, including his computer. During Handley's supervised release and probation, Handley must also "participate in a treatment program, to include psychological testing and a polygraph examination, as directed by the U. S. Probation Officer." According to earlier court documents, this last provision is "intended to provide [Handley] with diagnosis and treatment for sexually and/or gender identity or other mental health issues."

What circumstances would make someone go through my laptop and report its contents to the police?
I do have a simple login pswd, and I don't have any tech guys as friends, but this shit gets me worried.

So my motherboard fried when I had like 4 loli doujins on my desktop and I have no fucking clue about computer hardware, so I had to bring it to a repair-dude my father knows, and left it over night. I can only assume he booted it to check everything was okay. To this day I wonder if he noticed the doujins on the desktop.

Doesn't work like that - Handley got busted because he used the mail service (though they charged him over the other materials because he pleaded guilty). Obscenity is legal to possess in your own home (and any attempts to use the PROTECT act would be shot down).

This is the stupid part - they seized and charged him over materials that are legal to possess. They're effectively charging him with obscenity, so if his lawyer was doing his job properly (or Handley hadn't given up) he would have pointed out that none of this should apply as it contradicts a Supreme Court Decision.
