Again I think is bad for intro-ing you into the word/kanji by itself

I just gave it a shot again in another app and it worked quite well with me still remembering quite a lot of it
the app is called Kakugo fyi, I first used it to grind kana, then I tried it out again when wageslaving, because then I could do those in my downtime without needing much effort or audio

there are two big points which I think work better (for at least)
1) you have multiple choices to pick from, which activates more memory muscle, while making it easier to fetch it back too
2) its algorithm keeps cycling a small number or words until you get them right
3) you have separate individual kanji and then proper word study
4) also different directions, like kana -> kanji; kanji -> kana; kanji to meaning
so you can practice recognition in several ways

Of course there is a downside, like not having audio, I think this app helped me out focusing only on the kanji itself, so auxiliary study is very much needed, of course immersion is essential

I know this is basically a tl;dr answer to myself, but use it also as fyi for noobies out there getting caught on the coredeck trap
I think I'm just force myself to use this app again, and stick with anki solely for mining during immersion
