I'm a monogatarifag that would like to read some vampire content and had read around that Tsukihime has similarities. I should give it a shoot? I'm a filthy anime-only so far with Type-Moon and hadn't liked many of it adaptations except for Kara no Kyoukai movies. I specially disliked things like Fate/Zero because of it poor taste edgyness. I know that they aren't written by the people but I want to know if I could like Tsukihime with a taste like this. If so, I should play the original or the remake? Remake only consists two of the five routes of the OG Tsukihime and the other routes won't be out for 1-2 years at best. In any case, I suggest you to read OG first and remake next. Protagonist stays the same, but the storyline and presentation is vastly different/enhanced.
Tsukihime also has some sharp edges, but it differs from Zero in the sense that its more of a raw edginess rather than an ideological one. Just give it a go. The original might feel dated, but you get used to it.

Routes are split into near and far side. You can't unlock far side routes without clearing at least one of the near side stories but its universally agreed upon (and recommended by the TM) to read it in order like this:
Arcueid -> Ciel -> Akiha -> Hisui -> Kohaku
Near side stuff is wrapped up in Arc and Ciel's routes (Which is the extent of the remake right now). Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku routes are the far side stories. A choice in a particular scene allows you to move between near and far side.
I'd recommend to go in blind and choose the in-game choices according to heroine whose route you want to read. If you feel like you got into a wrong route, you can follow a walkthrough like https://www.xerblade.com/p/tsukihime-arcueid-walk-through.html?m=0 (Especially when you are done with Ciel and want to move to the far side stuff)

Exactly what it sounds like. Route ideas that didn’t make the cut.
In the beginning, the plan was for Fate/stay night to have four different routes, one for each heroine.
It would start off by letting the player arbitrarily choose between playing as either Shirou or Rin. Then around the middle of the story they would finally meet, and after that you would branch off into one of the four routes for the last half of the game. Yeah, I don’t really understand how it was going to work either.
Anyway, getting back to the rejected routes, it goes without saying that the Illya route tops the list.
Besides that, there was also the “Rider route where you fight against Rin and Saber,” and the “Caster route where Caster gets turned into a loli and becomes your partner.”
While all traces of the Caster route were completely erased, the development where you teamed up with Rider was actually folded into part of the final story.
If the Illya route had made it into the game, the diversion point probably would have been on the ninth day of the Sakura route. Instead of choosing between being a superhero and choosing Sakura, there would be a third choice where you could choose Illya.
But unfortunately, as it stands that choice doesn’t exist.

UBW was the opposite of Fate in someone is trying to help Shirou, that's Rin, so the date and all is for Shirou, rather than Saber. But the major issue is that Nasu doesn't bother to write them as happy together and real equals, not just allies in the battlefield, but Shirou making something for Rin or Rin claiming they'll be happy together. He adds that in FHA (if it's not a guest writer) and pretty much says the relationship hasn't changed. It's all about Shirou. Nothing about Rin. It's a stagnant relationship that is very onesided. Archer covers the half of pertaining to the flaws in Shirou's ideals and how they brought him nothing but suffering and Gilgamesh covers the half pertaining to Shirou's ideal being borrowed from another

Since this was Shirou's tale of happiness after losing so much, even if Saber and Illya were lost, at least he should let Sakura achieve happiness. And this was the conclusion. Even though Sakura indirectly became a mass murderer, there was no reason to deny her of happiness. I came up with this idea that if one were alive, it was not bad to redeem him/herself while looking forward to happiness. Even though this was hypocrisy, I felt that the story itself strongly demanded this possibility. To be honest, it was the first time that I lost to the story I wrote.

Takeuchi: The image of those worms became too strongly attached to Sakura, and I think we did a pretty mean thing to her.
