You made a grave mistake when you stumbled upon that strange lady in the snow. You were wandering through the woods on a small hike, enjoying the strangely cool spring day, with some mild snow. It fell softly, creating soft gentle pillows on the ground. It wasn't a thick snow, but soft and gentle. The last visages of winter.

You smiled watching a few fairies play a snowball game in the distance. Observing them made you careless, and you bumped into something big and soft. You begged for it's pardon, not noticing at first just how tall and large the woman was. She seemed surprised, as if expecting a different. But she soon smiled and accepted your apology.

Small talk quickly began between the two of you. For you, it was just a manner of being polite. For her though, it was much more. A human who wasn't there to beat her up, or ward her off? Someone who didn't instantly mock her weight? While you made small talk and she answered in kind, her mind raced with thousands of wild possibilities. The mind of a youkai is unfathomable to a mere human such as yourself. Her smile grew wide, and despite the cold winter air she began to look sweaty and clammy. Where the woman first exuded an aura of warmth, now she made you feel uneasy. In danger. Nervous.

You began to make your way home, and said goodbye. She smiled and gave a small wave, barely moving. As your feet wandered the path, the snow around you began to pick up. The air felt colder. Your breath slowed down, despite the need. This wasn't right. This wasn't spring weather.

Your house! You saw it just up ahead! It was at the edge of the human village, yet the snow obscured the village. If it was even there anymore. Or, better to say, if your house was still where it was supposed to be. You tried to heat your house up, but the fire struggled in vain to keep up with the harsh blizzard's embrace. You looked outside. The world beyond was gone. Anything 5 feet away from your house was lost in the snow. You existed in your own isolated world now.

Just you, and the large youkai breathing heavily at your window.
