The return of mima has finally arrived

I hope Medicine returns.

There's going to be at least one other human, there's no doubt. I imagine it would be Youmu, considering the title.
Seiran's inclusion really makes me think. She's definitely the weirdest character out of the 5 to be in a mainline game. LoLK characters, outside of Clownpiece, are very isolated to the main going-ons of Gensokyo.

Also, this is completely utterly a very hopeful guess, but 19 rosters for the 19th game might mean there's going to be a character representative of each mainline 2hu game.

PoFV gave every character its own stage which, save for the 2 protagonists and the characters who had their first Windows appearance be PoFV and so needed new backgrounds, would usually be taken from where you fought that character.
The background in the OP image is the Canal of Willows from DDC.
It's not 100% sure but Sekibanki might be in the game.

It's one of my favorite Touhou games. I love both the singleplayer and multiplayer modes.
It feels like a playground where you can pull of sick dodges. You get barely-dodgeable patterns thrown at you, and the goal is to navigate them long enough that you can regain your level 2.
It's also much more accessible than most VS games, in the sense that the less skilled player gets to play at their full potential (unlike say a fighting game or a puzzle game, where a weak player will get rushed down or have their side flooded with garbage, for example). This is great for a game with a smaller community, since it makes it easy for new players to enjoy themselves and get into it. Then there is more advanced strategies like managing spell points and bouncing bosses, and trying to slow the game up or accelerate it by spawning more pellets, etc. There is a fairly good variety of playstyles, too.
I hope Marisa and and Youmu return in 19 and play similarly to how they do in PoFV.

I have Touhou character ideas (OCs) about the rest of 4 chinese evil creatures that Yuuma belonged too. One of them is Taowu/Toukotsu which has several depictions, one of which is a boar so I decided to make her a boarhu.
Maybe if ZUN would really implement zodiac animals and make one of newhu a boar he might take from the same inspiration. I've made close predictions before, so I say it here now in case it really happens. You heard it here first.

The stages shown off so far are Takane's stage in 18 (pic related) and Sekibanki's stage in 14 (seen in op's image), which implies that they'll probably be playable unless ZUN is throwing stages in at random.
It's also worth mentioning that >>43250609 screenshot's background is from 14.3, Day 6. Day 6 starts with a tutorial fight with Mamizou, and features Aya, Hatate, Nitori and Momiji, so any of those are possible (though Mamizou is less likely than the other four given her minor role in the stage, and if Takane is in I wouldn't bet on Nitori either). It could also serve as Seija's stage, if she were to become a playable character. Too many possible characters that could call it their home stage at the moment.
Their stages showing up, of course, isn't a solid confirmation that they'll be in the game, but it's worth considering when discussing possible characters.

Here are a couple of thought:
-I don't think we will see many classic playables, so no Sakuya, Youmu etc. The only exception to that can be Sanae who is the only main character that wasn't in PoFV
-Two slots between Reimu and Marisa and rest: They could be for main antagonist and her henchman but also for two characters that aren't just a rabble. Sanae and possibly another incident solver comes to mind. Mayumi? Dancer representing Okina? Someone else hired by Okina?
-I don't expect lots (if any) of representaion for older games (6-9) and 1 character per MoF-TD era. Most of characters are likely going to be from 14-18.
-As for new characters i feel it will be on a smaller side. 3-5 max. I can see there being more if Zodiac theory holds true and ZUN wants to fill the blanks.

We're getting some Touhou 16, 17, and 18 characters plus Shinki, Sanae, Seija, Shou, Nue and/or a Touhou 10 character (probably someone underused like Rin since Yuugi, Yamame, and Utsuho was in 17.5).
Mima seems like someone that would have nothing to do with the returning theme of animals and Makai; also worth pointing out that she carries no distinctive traits in her character besides being a youkai that pesters Reimu and co., but we already have Yukari, Mima would not provide any unique or extensive world-building.

I don't see why Miyoi would get involved in the new incident.
Nothing about Touhou 19 references the Chinese/Japanese zodiac so I don't think we're getting characters representing that.
If we get a character from each Touhou game, we'd end up with a Touhou 3 character. I want to point out that Doremy Sweet already fits the role of being the dream world character so we won't get Yumemi. In the end, I'm skeptical of this theory.
This roster is going to be boring at first like Touhou 9 and 15.5 but we'll probably warm up to it eventually with amazing music and lore.

Just realised that if the game has a bunch of new characters like ZUN said then when the full thing is released we'll be met with more new characters at once than ever before considering the trial only has existing characters.
