Whew quite a long bout, gg's ______. That Iku destroys my Alice about 98% of the time, although I get a streak of luck occasionally and end up winning a round. Man, Iku's spell cards are devastating. I think fighting you helped me to improve quite a bit, seeing as how I normally just do comp stomps. Good stuff.

>> No.4332807

>>4332221
Good games, those were some fun matches. The advice I can give you is try not to graze every bullet you see on instinct and you should use 2BE to escape Iku's 5C easily, I only saw you use 4BE.

>> No.4332824

>>4332766
I don't know if you were aware of it, but using more 623C parasol spins wouldn't hurt your play. If you tacked it on the end of your Yukari blockstrings now and then (e.g. 5AAA 5B 5C 623C) I'd be a lot more hesitant of trying to escape by dashing or jumping the moment I see projectiles coming. If you successfully land a 623C you can also cancel into that 4-cost purple border spell card for a good 3k+ damage. But if 623C gets blocked, you deal a bit of chip damage and return to a mostly neutral position, so it's not too dangerous to spam*.

*1 or 2 characters might be able to punish it on block (Alice?), so watch the matchup. I don't think Cirno can do much about it though.

Good games, a.a. It was okay for a while, but then suddenly it got to the point where hjcing and doing my BnB air-strings was well-nigh impossible. Your Meiling is incredibly evasive and defensive for some reason, it's a really weird style for her.

>> No.4333709

Good games Guy. Man! These input errors are incredibly deadly against Tenshi, but I'm repeating myself. I lost count of how many times I lost my timing and got hit by crossups. But still, it's pretty fun. Aping your Meirin only gets me so far, but for some reason every time I tried to cancel 2A into 3A or 6A the input failed and your 2A ended up tagging me. Thanks for the games!

>> No.4333738

>>4333709
You can't chain 2AAA into 3A or 6A, there's a tiny gap between them. So a pretty quick move like Meiling's 2A will sneak in between that gap and land a hit. f.5A -> 3A or f.5A -> 6A works, though.

>> No.4333776

>>4333738
I'm pretty sure 3A comes out fast enough to punish poke attempts (at the right range). I mean my 3As simply didn't come out AT ALL, so if I wanted to 3A 5C only the 5C started up, which is way too slow and so I kept eating the 2As even though I was aware you'd be doing that as long as it kept hitting.

Ah well, I'll take crazily laggy games over none at any rate. Some day I'll have a good connection again, someday.

Your Suwako's still my antichrist, I just can't get enough uppercut trees.

Also fuck yeah, playing with another character and having really fun matches with it, this was unexpected. Okuu is clumsy and it's the first time I test her with this deck I made some time ago, but I really liked her. Now I just need to lear some basic tricks and damage dealing with her. And damn, that 2B/2C spam I got because of my gameplay with Suika won't get away. And your Meiling was lovely, you were definitely doing some nice things with her.

Yeah, I know... any advice for an "easy to learn", or at least not too hard, character? Because seriously, when I unintentionally picked Tenshi, I had no clue what to do. Those Okuu crushes of yours, though, I gotta give you credit since I've never seen anybody 6[A] right off the bat without a 5AA or anything, threw me off a bunch.

Uh, something else happened, something about my old Cirno palette, something else, something else, but I lost it all. Suffice it to say I've been drained by the den of the tournament homosexuals; so much so that my treeagraph power is limited.

Oh, hey there. Haven't seen you in a while, fellow tree.
Looks like you've learned a few new tricks since the last time I saw you; that Marisa of yours is getting pretty neat. Not like Krad420 neat or anything, but something I at least wouldn't scoff at.

You had a lot of predictable shit going on, namely 3[A] like you were trying to be Okuu or something, constant constant CONSTANT 6C, and that turtling in phoon that gets stale quick. Most of them work, sure, but overusing those things is going to jeapordize your pressure fast in actual competitive play, so you may just want to take a look at those; especially the lasers, because they leave you open to a universe of lolis firing bullets into your face. Not that you didn't already go to such a place when you started playing this, that is.

Anyway, my own personal problem here is that we're not playing the game game, you're watching one screen while I'm over here playing entirely in theory. As you've noticed, I BE a stupid amount, but it's gotten to the point that I predict every blockstring and such before it happens so I BE before anything even gets blocked, resulting in a bunch of stupid bullet-to-face runs. So for that I'm gonna apologize, first of all, but it's also a pretty big chunk of the reason why I hardly ever play this anymore. I like theory and I like reading theory, but I don't like the fact that theory becomes the game I'm playing and throws everything off for both parties. Maybe I should work on dumbing down my thought process by going to SU or something, I dunno.

Anyway, GGs Yggdrasiface. You go right on and continue being the mighty tree that you are.

>> No.4348681

>>4348635
>Damn I should sleep...

Hurf, tell me about it.
But yeah, I see the baiting coming and plan shit in advance, the reaction just comes a full second later or some shit. Same goes for everything, really, but that one fucked me over the most.
Still, it's not like I don't need advice or anything because Patchoutree I just picked up not too long ago and I'm still pretty shit with her; same goes for Meitreeng but I can feel the synergy and flow with her slightly better.

Reisen I really had no excuse for, you mashing out every single bnb gave me more rectile dissatisfaction than you can possibly comprehend.
Either way, keep on shining, Yggdrasiface -- that Marisa of yours may just outshine Krad's someday.

Yeah, I apologize for being so predictable. I don't mean to play like such a scrub, but if something works I tend to keep doing it. And as for typhoon, I hate the weather and taking advantage of it, whether it's in my favor or not. Sorry if that gets annoying.

Awwh, that's so noble of you. I remember Magister used to do that back in the SWR days but eventually he gave it up because it's impossible to play seriously that way.
Not wanting to take advantage of such things is one thing, but if you're not going to play in it at all then maybe you should be playing IaMP instead. Neither side has an advantage over the other in Typhoon because both sides can mash each other the fuck out; there's no shame to be felt, so don't beat yourself up over it.

And fyi, a "scrub" is someone who thinks the opposite way of what you just stated. If anything I'm the scrub for thinking you're repetitive, but when you do those naked lasers all I'm seeing are ZomB or Magister rushing past it and pounding your face in. I only think for the well-being of my /jp/friends. ;_;
Then again, I did 5C 421B all the time but it was more or less because I was getting buttmad at myself for botching the 421 input once and wanted to do it again, constantly. I should really stop hitting the d-pad with my thumb the way I do.

And as for the 5C 421B, I really couldn't guess. I don't get to be as active as I like around here. I'm behind my uni firewall of doom and I'm usually late to the hosting party.

>I just have the standard PS2 usb converter

The same.
I've had mine for like 6 or 7 years, and the controller even longer. With all the wall-tossing I do, I'm surprised it still holds together at all.
Keyboard players usually claim that their interface is easier to use and not to mention they have gods like the majority of the 'Big 4' in their ranks, so I thought about giving that a try myself but I really don't care enough to get shit done that way.
I just come in, sandbag, leave. Giving advice in my treeagraphs is one of my greatest pleasures, so I only really play soku at all for a chance to do just that.

Oh, and for what I was referring to earlier, see if you can find some replays of Dimglow lying around. I'd fork some over if I had any from 1.10, but I don't nor would it be likely that I could get any soon because I'm most certainly not his favorite character around these parts.

Midscreen though I was at a lot less risk of eating a high damage combo. Technically that's an example of scrub mentality, but I respect you for it. Because I do the same. As much of a cool guy Giant Tree is, ignore his complaints about turtling in Typhoon. It's your choice, even if it holds you back. There's still some of us (E-MAN, Duckator maybe, can't remember) who will wait out Typhoon if we don't have a weather card and won't try to run up to your face in order to 22.

Curiously enough "good players" are often the ones who seem most desperate to attack in Typhoon, it's like they're insecure of their chances of winning outside of it.

I don't know who you are, as several people came by and left after a few, without hearing much, but I'm sure we had some fabulous games, anon.

GGs, nice tactic you got there.

Good games, 6a. Remind me not to try new decks on alice players, lol.

GGs anonymous. You seem to switch between playing seriously and sandbagging really often, sometimes in the same round.

It's difficult. Have fun.

I personally just have more fun fighting in Typhoon than I do sitting back and doing nothing for 75 seconds.

Good games. Whoever I'm against I lose horribly. Any tips? Or should I just go back to fighting CPU?

Well, if they ran away during typhoon, wouldn't you just claim they're insecure of their chances of winning during it?

>>4354264
I'm not really good enough to give tips, but you will likely never improve if you just fight CPUs.

Keep playing. Stop worrying about getting better, just play. It'll start coming to you, then you can start forming more advanced techniques. Until then, just enjoy the game and think of losing as a learning experience. :3

CPUs are only really helpful for getting you comfortable with using combos in a real fight. I honestly notice that I learn combos a lot faster by spending a few rounds trying to get them off in Arcade Mode rather than pissing around in Practice Mode, because it's a whole new ballgame when your opponent is actually actively playing

Other than that? Watch replays of your fights. Carefully study the properties of your characters and take note of when you seem to "lose out" in an exchange. Some of the keys to becoming good at the fightan is to get positioning down, and after that learning the "what beats what" of the game. Once you've got those things down, you'll begin to have a deeper understanding of the game, and from then on begin to truly become better at it

>Well, if they ran away during typhoon, wouldn't you just claim they're insecure of their chances of winning during it?
No, because that doesn't make any sense. Do you think it's very difficult to land an unblockable melee move on an opponent? I don't.

If Magister used a weather card to stop Typhoon instead of trying to knock off 50% of my health would I think he'd be "insecure of [his] chances of winning during it"? Absolutely not.

It actually can be. Fly, keep away, and shoot danmaku; they'll end up hurting themselves more than you if they're overly aggressive, particularly if you use bullets like Sakuya's knives, Tenshis rock drills, or other projectiles with long hitstun.

>> No.4354710

New thread needed, this one is already on page 8.

>>4354455
If a person flies away and shoots projectiles, they'll drain their spirit quickly. It's not particularly hard to just follow them until they have to come down then peg them.

The point is, it's considerably easier to hit someone in Typhoon than normal weather (the only benefit to Typhoon is super armor but even then you'll still take damage if you get hit by something), and the whole "insecure about chances of winning during it" is just rhetorical nonsense.
