You got your 2 elements of choice, 1st bar weak to both, 2nd and 3rd weak to one, neutral to the other
Last bar no barriers
Couple of locks on breaks
Some barrier status or yang/yin def buffs on the side characters
It's all the same. At least when Fire EX came out it was unique that you had a ton of bomb items, when Star EX came out it was unique in the bullet type restrictions to not kill the adds too early.

In the jap version the rarest unit is going to be Ringo. Komachi might be right before anniversary but Ringo was also right before new year. Komachi is way more popular than Ringo at least and they already announced that there is a 2x reward campaing going at the same time as the Komachi banner so people might be more inclined to do some rolling after all. Ringo is also never used for any set-ups ever.

Defense is still the worst type in the game. Debuff characters like MV Sakuya, Doremy, Train Eiki and Beach Hecatia work perfectly fine in VS battles and MV Sakuya was even the MVP in some of them. Meanwhile, the only tank who was ever super good at actually tanking was SFES Reisen and the only thing that is good for is meme videos of someone lasting 1800 turns in tower. All other tanks struggle to do anything that can't be done better by other characters. Beach Satori is the worst EFES character right now and a true waste of dolls or cubes. All those VS battles also make tanking pretty much impossible since the enemy damage output is so high and usually loaded with elements. At lvl 120 you only have 2 shields and all your stuff is usually locked. I still have not found a real use for those "reduce damage from X element" skills that a few characters have. With proper set-ups, you never even have to take a hit directly.

Current event in the jap version has the largest selection of costume bonus effects ever and I somehow managed to only have 1 (one) of the possible outfits. All because it is school focused and I usually don't care about those kinds out outfits...

She's pretty great if you use her understanding her primary purpose is Crit Debuffs achieved through her Spell Cards (Crit Def on Proto-Spark, Crit Evasion on Stardust Reverie), before fully softening up the enemy with her third skill and Last Word, coupled with some respectable Star Breaking through said Spell Cards. Mind that she's a bit scattered beyond the Star commonality, since Proto-Spark has Fire and Blazing Star has Water.
She's not the greatest of them all, but does her job very well when it comes clearing content that's vulnerable to her capabilities, definitely worth consideration if you don't want to test your luck trying to get another heavy contender from the batch.

I can't fathom why you would put something like that in the game.
I can see the intent with it making EX stages harder since those are the ones you spend 8+ turns on, but you already have the bosses becoming more resistant for that.
So all this does is punish people trying to scrape by with what they got and encourages more overkill setups which require more expensive units.
So it just looks like they're pushing people to roll for gameplay more.

Here is A6 Yukari, who has the misfortune of running together with the characters they will only reveal once the stream happens.

So one of the features they already revealed is the ability to lower the cost of your farming set-ups manually. This will decrease stats and apparently also make it harder to gain P. New era of super autistic low cost set-ups incoming for sure. Remains to be seen how this will impact stuff in detail. This feature can even be used on already saved replays so you can experiment and see how low you can go with existing stuff.

I don't even know how you could ever notice something like decay at all. Even the cheapest farming sets never last over 5, maybe 6, turns. Most characters are also straight up unable to ever stall anything out since they tend to die 1-2 turns after running out of shields. Is Blonde Reisen the only character that those people have? What would you even try to stall in this game? Tower? Just suicide your characters into that, you get a free heal every single day and it is only 10 floors each time. Unless you are a new player, you will have 100+ characters at this point to throw at it. If you are a new player, then you won't even be able to stall at all because the chances of you having exactly the few characters who can even attempt such a strategy while also not having anyone else is basically 0%. Characters only have 4 spells + 1 LW and since the devs hate bombs, those pretty much never appear so after a few turns you end up dealing no real damage anyway.

it's even more fucked up when you realize many of the VS stages gain full break immunity on last gauge and you have to kill them without the full break damage bonus while they cast their skills and posibly limit your setup even more (for example VS L1 reimu with yin attack -8 levels making yin nukers almost useless on last gauge),additionally you have to deal with the class nerfs, bullet restrictions and other stuff that can be manageable (enemy hp up, enemy evasion up) or very stupid and annoying(80% killer nerf from VS L1 reimu) if you want a lvl 120 clear. I think the real problem is the mechanic makes DS harder for no reason other than trying to kill your sp if you want to farm the VS stages optimally, luckily i can farm VS L1 reimu lvl 100 fine with my 21 cost setup even if it takes me 8 turns.

Both defense and speed suffer from the fact that their specialisation is completely useless. The only thing high speed or high defense are good for is scaling on spells. But even then there are random characters in other classes who just have top tier defense or speed anyway. Yachie is a tech type and just randomly has defense as her highest stat. Castlevania Sakuya is destruction and has almost 1500 speed.
