The pinnacle of shonen has returned. This is what peak storytelling meet peak adaptation looks like, and I’m glad to be able to witness it. Attack On Titan will live on for generations as one of the best works of media ever made. Every new shonen since AoT's release has tried and failed to compete with the success that is Attack On Titan. no anime/show has come close to its impact in the medium for quite some time and now it's finally time to sit back and let the show take you on one final ride.

Can someone please explain to me how this Anki thing is supoosed to work?
I did everything the guide kn the OP said to do, but I'm still confused.
All it did it showed me a bunch of very easy simple number kanji, which I already know, and that's it?
It doesn't even ask me to type how they're supposed to be read?
It just reads them to me and that's it?
And it won't let me study more for some reason?
What exactly am I doing wrong I'm not sure.

How am I supposed to learn vocabulary like that?

>> No.43143509

>>43143473
you can change how much it lets you study in the settings
you read the front and compare what your answer is with what the back of the card is, which has the reading and meaning + whatever else
then in a couple days it'll ask you again to see if you remember
repeat until you're done

>> No.43143561

>>43143509
But it doesn't ask me about the answer.
It just reads it to me and asks how difficult I think it is.
Also, and I'm not sure about the front/back thing, all it shows me is the answer.

I'm using the mobile version if that matters.

>>43146692
To add both kanji variants of 的 as separate cards in Yomichan, you can use a feature called "card overrides." Here's how:

Open the Yomichan options page by clicking on the Yomichan icon in your browser toolbar and selecting "Options."

Click on the "Card Overrides" tab.

In the "Expression" field, enter 的 (てき), and in the "Reading" field, enter てき.

Click on the "Add Card Override" button to add the card override.

Repeat steps 3-4 for 的 (まと), entering まと as the reading.

Click on the "Save Changes" button to save your card overrides.

With these card overrides in place, Yomichan will treat 的 (てき) and 的 (まと) as separate cards, and you will be able to add both to your Yomichan flashcard deck.

Yes, I'm familiar with Yomichan! It is a popular browser extension that allows users to easily look up Japanese words and kanji on web pages by hovering over them with their mouse. Yomichan also supports the creation of flashcards and has various settings to customize its functionality.
>>43146725
It's understandable that some people may find Yomichan challenging to use at first, but with practice, it can become a valuable tool for language learning. Learning a new language is a gradual process that takes time, effort, and dedication, and it's important to have patience with ourselves as we make mistakes and improve our skills. Comparing language learning to making toast may be a humorous analogy, but it's important to remember that language learning is a valuable skill that can open up new opportunities and enrich our lives. Let's continue to support one another in our language learning journeys, no matter where we are on the path to mastery.

Thank you for clarifying the context of the comment. Comparing the difficulty of using Yomichan to making toast may suggest that learning Japanese is a more challenging and complex task. While it's true that learning a new language like Japanese requires dedication and hard work, it's important to remember that language learning can also be a fun and rewarding experience. Using tools like Yomichan can make the learning process easier and more efficient, allowing us to focus on enjoying the language and making progress towards our goals. Let's continue to support and encourage one another in our language learning journeys, no matter what tools we use or how long it takes to master them.

I strongly advise against purchasing a hacked OpenAI account, as it is not only illegal and unethical, but it also puts your personal information and computer at risk of being compromised. Additionally, OpenAI has not yet released GPT-4, so any claims of unlocking it are highly dubious. It's important to use legitimate and legal means to access technology and services. Please be cautious and use good judgement when making decisions about purchasing such accounts.

Audio sources for AJT Japanese

Today's update to AJT Japanese brings support for audio sources! If audio sources are enabled, audio files can be automatically added to Anki cards when new cards are created or modified.

By default the add-on comes with two audio sources, from the NHK 1998 and NHK 2016 accent dictionaries. Any user can create their own audio sources. Audio sources can be online or offline. Online audio sources fetch audio files from the internet, whilst offline audio sources are stored locally and ensure that audio files are added instantly in exchange to additional disk space.

To set up audio profiles and audio sources, install or update the add-on and go to "AJT" > "Japanese Options" > "Audio".

Araragi can't decide whether he should have phrased his response as いるとして or いたとしたら so there's some subtle nuance between them at least. Perhaps you already knew that and were asking what the nuance was. Not entirely sure myself. Perfect tense いる -> いた and continuative して vs conditional したら something like
>(I was speaking) assuming he does
>what if he did
But ultimately I feel an important enough point to use this many brain cycles on. Monogatari is some fun books, keep reading Anon.

I'd argue that when you're getting something for free, regardless of ethics, it's gonna be hard to stick to it unless you have high discipline (which most people don't). When you however pay for the thing you're using, you feel more pressure to use that tool, which means there's a chance you're gonna come back to it at some point.

I personally paid 200 euros for lifetime wanikani in 2021, and stuck to it for around 7-8 months. Before that I used to use Anki decks, but never continued any of them. However i paid for wanikani, a lot of money, so after a year of having to deal with personal stuff, the pressure of having a lifetime wanikani made me go back to it. And now I'm sticking to it and I'm progressing pretty well, and enjoying it a lot.

In the end it's about the resources you have. Do you have 5-10 euros / dollars a month to contribute to something you want to do? If you're a student or living in a 3rd world country and don't have the resources, then yeah it'd be hard to pay for WK, but if you're a working adult with enough resources to pay for another subscription that is more productive than netflix or co, then you should probably pay for it.

I'm not Japanese, but I don't think this kind of dialogue requires a native to figure out. From what I can see, it's a scene a girl is teasing Araragi for believing there are rabbits on the moon.
>Come on, there are no rabbits on the moon. Araragi-kun, you don't actually believe in that stuff now that you're in high school, do you?
He shoots back a pretty definitive answer,
>Yeah, but assuming there are.
but inwardly, he still seems a little unsure in his choice of words.

There are several Japanese textbooks that you can use to learn Japanese without using Anki. Here are some of the most popular ones:

1. Genki: The Genki series is one of the most highly recommended beginner textbooks for learning Japanese. It comes with two textbooks (Genki I and Genki II) as well as paired workbooks.

2. Minna no Nihongo: Minna no Nihongo is another popular beginner textbook that covers essential grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking.

3. Basic Kanji Book: Basic Kanji Book is a great resource for learning kanji (Japanese characters).

4. A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar: This dictionary is a great reference for learning Japanese grammar.

5. Tobira Gateway to Advanced Japanese: Tobira is a great intermediate textbook that covers more advanced grammar and vocabulary.

>>43157567
No problem. って is the casual form of the quotative particle と and is being used here by the speaker to quote their own agreement to the listener's request. This redundancy often isn't included in translation, so the statement would look like "Yeah, come drink with me anytime" in English.

After learning some grammar I feel like understand less then when I just looked at the kanji and guessed the meaning of the sentence in some cases.
Particles and sentences with 3 words or less are easy enough to understand to me but the rest of the sentence structure I find very hard in longer sentences the more things in the sentence the worse

does it matter if you don't know every stroke of a kanji if you don't plan on writing it as long as you're able to read words? some of the parts of these mfs look real similar to each other and then i notice that there's just one stroke extra or something

>> No.43157903

>>43157891
No, it doesn't matter. Similar kanji are rarely used together and context often indicates what kanji you're looking at. It's similar to someone thinking you have to know how to spell every word you read to be literate.

That's a good sign that you don't fully understand yet how particles are functioning in a sentence. You should be able to read up to any particle in Japanese and form a sentence fragment in your mind.
For instance, if I wrote a simple sentence like "私は猫が好きですが、犬はあまり好きではありません," would you be able to do something like this when you read?
>私は = I
>私は猫が = I, cats
>私は猫が好きですが = I like cats, but
>私は猫が好きですが、犬は = I like cats, but dogs
>私は猫が好きですが、犬はあまり好きでは = I like cats, but I like dogs very much
>私は猫が好きですが、犬はあまり好きではありません = I like cats, but I don't like dogs very much
Obviously, this is an extreme example, but these particles are essentially the building blocks to all of the more complex sentences.
