The story is really long and dull though, it's basically all about a fight to save the school and island from bad guys. They tried to make it more realistic but it turned out to be mostly boring in the end
Also, another issue is that routes are basically just little after stories a few hours long and the rest of the game is basically one big common route with all of the plot
On the bright side though, you can basically just skip through most of the boring stuff safely, and the fandisk is really good and long which basically consists all the routes that were supposed to be in the main game without all that useless shit

Just downloaded Aphrodisiac, and the .mds is indeed dummy/worthless, but unlike Alcohol's uncompressed type, it's Daemon Tools' compressed type which can be unsupported by some mounting programs. Just delete it, rename .mdf to .iso and mount it with whatever-you-have.
Better still, "extract" the .mdf with 7-Zip or WinRAR, replace AdvHD.exe with the cracked one and play as is, without installation (which is unnecessary anyway).

Aphrodisiac's .mds must be mounted in Alcohol. Its .mdf looks compressed, it is NOT a plain .iso and mounting/extracting it as one will not work. Someone should convert/redump it.

Without even going into details, one of the selling points of this re-launch when they announced it was "respect for the setting and characters."
