I have my folders divided into factions or popular pairings and then further divided by individual characters. I need to organize my folders for pairs and groups that don't fall into any traditional factions or pairings. My two largest individual character folders, Aya and Reimu, are in desperate need of some upkeep. I am not entirely sure how to go about that though.

General touhou folder > Folders divided in music, images, doujinshi, games, etc > for pictures, folder by game, manga, novel etc + groups and others > another folder for a specific character or pairing I like and has a lot of pictures.

Put Satori and Koishi in the same folder and save less of them. This will take care of pairing images. Do the same with Orin and Okuu.

I have them vaguely sorted by character and by game-setting when applicable but it's messy.
It'd be better to be able to sort by artist for instance. And figuring out which character folder to put a pic under when there are multiple characters can be tricky.

I have folders for the characters that I really like, the fanart of the others is unsorted.

Why would you have so many pictures?

Generally I organise my folders into factions with the heroes and POPULAR individuals getting their own folders.

Then for each faction, I have sub folders to each character of that faction and if I have a lot of pictures of inner faction pairings, those will get their own folder.

Pairings get their own folder and is then broken down into sub folders of popular pairings. The main folder the has a mess of odd pairings. I think I've got Alice with everyone at this point.

There is also a main folder for group shots, not really organised. Another folder for a bunch of random shit I call 'WAT', mostly comedy pictures, has sub folders for different categories of image that doesn't fit anywhere else. Example, 4koma folder, crossover folder, FUCK YEAR folder, a further WAT folder (for shit that just doesn't make sense) and so on.

Less popular individuals and factions are in a OTHER folder. That folder is then broken down into factions and those individuals who don't belong with anyone and aren't awesome enough to get a folder in the main Touhou folder. For example, Lily White is stored here.

Needless to say, it's all still a mess.

I have everything disorganized and across 4 HDDs in multiple folders with names like "new folder (7)", I want to work on it eventually but this seems to be too much of a task and I have a good memory of where things are at.

I orginise mine with icons.

I tried tagging, didn't like it. I just stay disciplined while I save stuff.
Once I decide I like a character enough, they get their own subdirectory. Pairings are put in the "Gay" subdirectory, and the file named by the characters + a number. Certain pairings that I have a lot of, also get their own subdirectory. If there are multiple characters, or it's just a 4koma or scenery or something, it just stays in the main "Touhou" directory, and I try to give it a clever or memorable name instead of just 123775882.jpg
Utsuho has two 2 folders because she is my favorite. One for badass and one for cute.

"Gods" (Note: yama and shinigami go here too)
"Humans" (Note: Lunarians, half-ghosts, were- and half-youkai go here too)
"Youkai" (Fairies and ghosts go here too)
"Humans and Youkai" (They get paired so much)
"Multiple" (Pictures with many, many touhous and such, crossovers with other series goes here too)
"Yukkuri shiteitte ne" (dunno lol)

Is there a firefox plugin or something that can import the *booru tags into something usable? That would make things a lot easier.

18GB, and that's just the porn image, without doujins included

I use probably the oldest method there is to sorting my pictures, basically two windows drag and drop into appropriate folders; most of my folder names are like pools from Danbooru.
I recommend no one use this method, however since I don't know any other way besides manually naming the files while saving them (which I'm too lazy to do anyways), I'm stuck with this method.

If you just want basic tagging functions, windows explorer allows you to edit an images metadata.

Assuming you have windows, of course, not sure about macs.

I delude myself that I will one day get around to organizing it.

Then when I try, it's all porn and I end up fapping, losing interest and falling asleep.
