There are only two choices in the OG VN, one in Himatsubushi and one in Minagoroshi. Neither one changes anything about the story.

Console ports adds a "common route" with tons of choices, you can do stuff following around Rika for a day for example, or hang out with Rena in Keiichi's house, and even a few extras in the proper routes (like you can have Keiichi finding out Shion isn't Mion before they get to the store in Wata).

07th mod only adds the bad ending choices though. The ones you make and just get a small scene and instant game over. None of the actual console versions' branching paths.

Higurashi is superior though and I will advocate and shill it always, not my fault Umineko had to have an immoral tranny as the reveal

Clearly Umifags can't appreciate what they claim to be the greatest masterpiece in all of fiction to receive any amount of criticism at least a certain subset of Umifags.
I have to feel like the animosity and Higurashi-chads shilling Higu over Umi comes from the massive positive reputation that Umineko gets despite having far more flaws than Higurashi whilst Higurashi's main notoriety is through the original anime or worse, Gou/Sotsu, thus forming a bit of an inferiority complex where they want to remind everyone how great the original Higurashi VN is,

At least, such is my perspective as a Higurashi over Umineko lover, whilst still greatly enjoying both.

This feels like it will be an absurd longshot in the dark, but 2 years ago somebody made a doujin with Furudo Erika and Hyoudou Kazuya from Kaiji. Pic related was the cover art and I really was hoping to find that non edited version of it. I went into Umineko after reading Higurashi and thought for a similar mystery story as with Higurashi. I was pleasantly surprised how Umineko broke down the detective work and created something unique. Still, it hasn't topped Higurashi.

Higurashi is a solid masterpiece and the gradual mood shifts in the atmosphere are the best part of the reading experience. The characters are very well fleshed out and are just fun to interact with. Maybe because the Higurashi VN was my first (proper) VN I ever read, I consider it the best VN I've ever read.

Good to see SotsuGou hasn't scared all Higuchads away, even though the original anime was a disaster. Let's hope for a good conclusion for Meguri, it has had many good moments

If the final arc manages to do the personal conflict right when everyone knows about the situation and the characters are actually interacting rather than just watching Satoko sneaking around this kind of stuff will already be in the past by then in comparison.

Ange took a deep breath to steady herself. Her roommate had snuck out of the room about fifteen minutes ago, enough time for Ange to be certain that she wouldn't be back any time soon.

There was always a risk of being caught, in a dorm room with no locks, but over time, Ange had gotten used to the ebb and flow of activity in the school. There wouldn't be another room check for another few hours, and this wouldn't take THAT long.

She moved her hands down to her underwear and started light, short strokes through the fabric. She was sensitive, and touching herself directly usually brought more pain than pleasure.
