Doesn't need to be a VN. The best part about Zero is there's no focus--no hero. Kiritsugu's the main character, but everyone's getting a significant slice of exposure. It makes for a great and engaging story.

Automatically, you kill the unreasonable necessity of a biased first-person monologue view by telling the story this way. Told from just Kiritsugu's perspective with the occasional interlude, it wouldn't be as shiny.

Zero hits harder this way. That's why it'd benefit the most from being an OVA instead of a movie or TV miniseries--you could better produce and emulate the multiple POV standpoint.

Fate/Zero is so much superior to Fate/stay Night. In every way.
