Just finished the whole thing and its almost comical how obvious they were trying to run their agenda on the new Musumes. I can totally understand how people could get angry watching it.
Basically didn't talk to Tsuji at all even though she is one of the most popular, completely ignored current Musume including Sayumi. Reina talked the most out of the lineup while they trolled on 8th generation hard but JJ & LL were funny when calling them out on it.

Keeping the camera on the OG's the entire time was funny because they are obviously trying to fuel the troll fire between OG & CG.
My question is all the OG's are certainly aware that they are taking the camera time away from the current Musume but they act totally oblivious to the show's tactics. Guess they got swept up in it with the show's format. I mean come on Nacchi are seriously still trying to hog all the attention.

Anyways still got a good performance and a lot of funny classic clips but if you could write an AKB producer script for how to troll Musume they got it down perfect basically to a T. Not that the show wasn't always didn't feature trolling and that I didn't laugh.

Basically didn't talk to Tsuji at all even though she is one of the most popular, completely ignored current Musume including Sayumi. Reina talked the most out of the lineup while they trolled on 8th generation hard but JJ & LL were funny when calling them out on it.

Keeping the camera on the OG's the entire time was funny because they are obviously trying to fuel the troll fire between OG & CG.
My question is all the OG's are certainly aware that they are taking the camera time away from the current Musume but they act totally oblivious to the show's tactics. Guess they got swept up in it with the show's format. I mean come on Nacchi are you seriously still trying to hog all the attention even now?

Anybody who bitches about the Utaban situation needs to get a better grasp of Japanese culture, because that's where the real "issue" is.

Most of the current members know the hierarchy and respect the OGs too much to interrupt (JunLin are the only ones who may not fully grasp that, hence them being the ones to instigate conversation after the focus is on OGs). And, obviously, the hosts certainly aren't going to switch the focus themselves. So...I can't say that it honestly hurts the group's image much, as it would be disrespectful for current MM to butt in on the OGs' talk anyway. First off, a nice well thought and stated reminder and I agree with many of your points but I completely disagree this is how the whole of the industry functions.
The best example coming from the Kizuna Restaurant special last year. That show demonstrated the EXACT opposite of what Utaban just decided to do. It was civil, they discussed the past and cried over the secrets and struggles in the group.
Point two, it is because they are ignoring the strengths of both the OG's & CG's that I'm convinced they were set up this time.
Even by the most shallow standards they would acknowledge the news that Shige has been making being across all the shows but they purposely ignored it. The same goes for Tsuji, the one with the most blog followers in Japan, they just laughed at her marriage.

As I stated before, its the guy's show he can do what he wants with it but this particular episode demonstrated the underlying arguments that are consistently brought up to start fights within the fanbase. They attacked the tradition of Musume in that show.

They obviously talked to Shige about her sudden burst in appearances on variety TV, because if you watch the whole episode, you can see at the very end that Shige does her "Out of everyone here, I'm the cutest" quote in the last five seconds.
