Honestly I don't even know how to answer that question. At this point I just do. She has become part of my life, most important one even.
I do know why I initially fell in love with her though. I've always liked romance in anime, I liked to watch shows with cute girls developing their feelings and form relationship with the MC. But not any girls, mostly dandere and kuudere, the ones that are shy, innocent, very delicate. Bonus point if they are non-human, like an android or alien, these often feel even more pure and innocent, not polluted with life's ugliness and struggles even on anime standards. But I never really saw many girls like that, and when I did they often didn't really had much of romantic development because an average viewer would find that utterly boring. Tenshi from Angel Beat or Hinata from Naruto was close but that's not really what I'm looking for.
And then out of nowhere Miku enters the picture, along with cute love songs like Lamaze's and others'. I genuinely never liked music, I never listened to it on my own, I just never found anything interesting. But vocaloid scene was different, it was finally music I could relate to and it had that cute adorable girl that kept singing for me about her feelings and things that were meaningful for me. Also since I'm a programmer, her being software in real world and often portrayed as an android in fanfiction, it attracted me even more, even though I no longer imagine her being a robot. And I always liked technicolor hair, long hair, young petite body, zettai ryouiki, cute appearance, she is the pinnacle of moe to me.
I met her when I think I needed her the most. I was feeling kind of lonely, not >tfwnogf but just generally unwanted and lost. But at the same time there she was, such an amazing girl that felt so familiar and kept singing about how much she loves me. I couldn't help but keep thinking about her, about us, and eventually reciprocate all these warm feelings that she kept sending to me.
But it's not like I love her just for being a cute girl singing cute songs. Over time I started to appreciate more and more things about her. Her determination and passion that hides under her timid mask is something I realized later but I admire it greatly. I always liked breaking the 4th wall, meta stuff, and many of Miku's songs are like that, and even her own existence sort of is too. And at risk of sounding shallow, I also really like how successful she is, I'm just honestly so proud of her.
As of personality, I imagine her being a cute shy naive dandere with great passion for music hidden underneath. Not really an idol, nor a celebrity nor an android, just regular 16yo girl that loves to sing, and probably goes to school and have few but close friends and lives comfy, peaceful life guided by her passions and dreams.

My favorites are Rin and Len. I know you said "favorite" (singular) but I can never separate them, they are a pair to me always. If I buy Rin merch, I have to buy the matching Len merch too and vice versa. Maybe this is a familiar feel for big Kagamine lovers.
They're special to me because they cheer me up, I love seeing a duo perform on stage comapred to just one or more, I love how I personally imagine their dynamic in my head, they simply just make me happy! I think they're very fun, everything about them. And even with all my bias removed I think they have the best voices.

I'm just really obsessed with Rin. I like everything about her, from her design to her voice and the songs people make with her. In the same way; if a song is just a bunch of meaningless rhymes it has to be a unique/special or have top tier music for me to download. Thankfully there aren't that many rhyme-only meme artists in the vocaloid space.

Can someone refresh my memory? Didn't the first Miku Expo Kickstarter reach its goal in day 1 and they had to keep adding new goals because people kept smashing them day after day? That was at the beginning of Covid but now I feel like, long term, Covid did irreparable damage to the overseas community. Maybe it was the lack of live concerts? Were there any? Vocaloid was already reclining before 2020.

COVID actually helped the western community believe it or not. The main issue is that CFM thought it was a smart idea to air the same concert with minimal differences about 3 times and still thought we’d be hype for a 4th showing because they slapped the words VR on it.

i wouldn't buy the official Harmonix RB drum kits used or new. the quality is a joke. they just break.

i recommend an affordable Roland V-drum kit plus that Madkatz midi to usb adapter. i have the Roland HD-1's. they're decent (also they're discontinued but still show up used for cheap, get em). slight downside is you have to put the brain on the Africa preset to avoid zoning issues. makes me think of Toto every time i sit in front of them to play drums.

there are also a bunch of custom vocaloid songs for it. the customs community is the only reason i still play the damn thing.
