There's been a bunch of changes to resists so magic's status isn't clear, it's definitely weaker than it used to be.

Best weapon types are longsword (lightsabres and lots of artifacts) and blunt (used for melee with ranged weapons). MA's advantage is not being as gear dependent, continuous attacks spam also works fairly well and doesn't care much about gear.

Since the thread was down, I've completed Act 1, and 2 out of the 3 of the 666 forts. I only have the cat bitch left, and I hope the team is enough. The defender was made with the new broken breeding system. She has high magic/fire resistance and a mix of the defender moveset with Ebon the fire giant. I also bred Alsapia, she has a nice moveset but she is not as great as I thought she'd be.

That's good if you want to play a comfy sims in a long time. If you keep eating herbs, your power will soon surpassed the pets. You can share a meal with pet to improve them. The downsides to having a harem are keeping them at the same power level as yourself and micro manage their inventories. But Elona plus is easy if you know what you're doing and it's fun to have a nice harem.

I met my first Element Dragon and trivialise it. Does it mean I'm ready for Arc 2? I'm still in Arc 1 and haven't beaten Zeome yet. Cgx has the most content and translation due to being more forgiving than vanilla or omake
Omake is another mods of the game. It has a very slow unforgiving start and there are a lot of untranslated stuff. However there are some unique extra stuff that are nice like weapon crafting. It is easier to just start with CGX. They have a github

I found a nice way to grind AP for my weaker pet. After going through the Oblivion Palace to lower their stat, I just have them ride me and then bind a screen wide attack to a hotkey. At 50 speed literally any enemy in the Void give them AP even at low level. So with the big AOE I one shot most of them and give my pet a shit ton of AP. Like 800 in 20 minutes. It's great when there are Wasp or Ant because they swarm

Im a little preferential to the black cat and was considering trying the gene stuff they added to make a black cat with some better resists or whatever else that allows... also is MA really terrible now? is focusing on it gonna be something regrettable by act 3?

The recruitable NPCs like <Isca> and <Goda> are decent, and since you're getting them for free, you might as well use them for a bit. Slave trader stuff is at the very least, easy to obtain, and if you gear it you can get some value there.

MA is fine, people complain since it's not straight up better than weapons anymore, but it's still effective, and doesn't require gear, plus it scales faster

Why do I see so many recommendations for blackjack to farm potions of cure corruption? The AI obviously cheats. The number of times it gets 19-21 is unreal. Took me 30 minutes before I got a double lucky streak of decent hands on top of the AI being retarded and going over 21 nearly every time. Even fairly early on you can make the gold needed to just buy one in a few minutes.

In regular Elona, raising speed is extremely difficult so riding is actually very powerful. In Plus its usefulness drops off once you start trading AP for ridiculous levels of speed, and also because Ano has made some weird changes to speed which makes raising it actually detrimental for some situations/builds.

Pick up every last bit of crap you find in dungeons and flog it in your shop, if you're not using it for something else. Give preference to equipment since your shop will sell it for full price. Food, too, is a moneymaker; you can farm high enhance food and cook it and it'll sell, but I find it easier to collect corpses and dry them on the rocks at a ranch since you can put in big piles of jerky in your shop.

Make sure you stuff your shop full of salable crap every day. The more crap you can sell, the more money you can make. Buy some dungeons so you can stuff it full of crap to sell when your shop is already stuffed full of crap.

I'm very good at Blackjack, and I didn't win a single potion of corruption with my points - The AI kept getting extremely lucky. For example, their first card would be an 8, and by likelihood they probably had a 10, and I'd draw a 6 and a jack. I'd be 16, and most likely they'll be 18. Picnic baskets are the earlygame substitute for blessed potions of potential. Herbed food is totally separate from potential, for direct stat gains, not stat potential. You can still benefit from baskets later in the game since the whole party can use them, but nowadays blessed potential pots are far stronger for the player.

(Spoilers) A great source of potential pots is through crafting if you can't be assed to travel around buying them one by one. In my experience, scrolls of gain material won't give you the right ingredient (angel's tear), but the materials that pets earn will.

What am I doing wrong in fishing? I have 90 fishing skill and I'm using dragonfly bait, but if I fish for 6 hours I get maybe 1-3 fish. Its very slow. I want to increase favor with the kitty of luck, but after multiple in game days I'm only at 900 favor. (I have about 50 faith or so).

Play it fairly safe? I don't think playing it fairly safe is an option. I recently used a bunch of chips with a luck day and mica gear and I got very unlucky. The AI consistently rolled two cards which usually equaled 18-21, and I constantly got either low numbers and then drew way too high of a card (14 and then draw a jack for example) or I'd roll 17 and then I'd see their first card is a 10 and the second is likely an 8 plus, so I'd hit and lose because I go over, or the few times I didn't hit I lost anyways because they were a point higher than me.

How hard would it to be to add some minor quality of life changes to Elona?
Firstly I'd like to add a timer on the screen for how long you have left in a "pick my crops for me" mission, so you don't have to constantly check the chat log to see if your time is almost up.
Secondly I'd like to add a little checkmark to a quest that wants an item fetched, if you have that item. E.G: If you have a junk stone in your inventory but you don't know it, you won't have to exit the quest board, check your inventory, confirm you have it, go back into the quest board and then accept the quest.
I know nothing of modding but these two things have always bugged me a lot.

Slime molds are actually useful - they generate a bunch of slot additions, and those additions can create missing slots. This 5-headed mutant now has 1 arm and 1 leg! I guess conceivably, if a mutant had a source of slime molds (through heirship maybe?), they could acquire every normal slot through molds and then continue growing random slots through normal leveling.

They are. Think of them as a super mode you can access when your limit bar is full, and allows you to get a second bar on top of whatever stat boosts you get.

They're mostly good for boss fights, where you could use the extra boost, and the guaranteed one-round time stop effect that happens whenever you use a gauge attack at 200%. The Gamma core also lets Mutants ignore their "too complicated body" penalty to their speed without having to ride anything, which makes them very valuable for anyone playing a Mutant without pets or who doesn't want to fuck around with Riding.
