Does anyone else skip Japanese onomatopoeia?

I’ve been using Japanese in Mangaland as a text and also did the workbook exercises. But there’s a whole chapter on onomatopoeia and I find it really boring. I read somewhere that Japanese use onomatopoeia a lot, is it ok to skip it?

My main goal is not to take the exams but really to watch anime and read manga.

i mean the guy who posted the image expected it to be really common so that knowing 3 kanji in the phrase would be enough to figure it out but that's not the case at all. as for how that other guy found it, if you just google the kanji in >>42511336 with 絶 for the second character, which is probably the most common kanji with 色 on the right, you get a hit to that fanwiki page but if that didn't work out there would be no way to tell. it also means the original guy did no work googling or couldn't make out those 3 kanji in the first place

yes but it's a common thing they do, it's just something you have to get used to via exposure you can't always intuit these things on first try
for example タヒる means to 死ぬ because the katakana is the bottom part of the kanji but maybe that's not obvious without looking it up depending on the context
