While I like melty, my gut tells me that 3rd strike should win. There are a lot of players, especially in California, that put in absurd amounts of time with the game when fighters were on the down and out in the US. Even though the sun set on 3s years ago, I think they should be allowed to enjoy their last moments at evo.

I love Kokujin's matches, and dudley is a cool character; but come on 3S is stagnant these days.

I think Melty should have some time in the sun; there's no GG at all this year and if melty doesn't make it in there will be no offense based game in EVO; and that will make for a boring event.

Melty Blood is a much better, balanced and deeper game than the likes of SFIV, MvC2 (scrubs here read about it in SRK and think that broken shit is actually deep or good), etc.

AH2 is a really "PINK" game but the gameplay itself is actually very good and it's also a bit unique which is a good combination. The console port is horrible however, why did they have to fail so horribly?;_;
BB is BB but Continuum Shift was a big improvement so far.
GGs time might be over but it's still a solid fighter of high quality, which is better than most games.
MBAA is still MB and it feels like MB and while MB might be different and feel very different from most other fighters, the game actually has a lot to offer once you get accustomed to the meta-game mechanics(before that? Perhaps not so much.)

Iamp and Soku are different games but they aren't bad, and people shouldn't look down upon them that much either, as something that could be called the very bvest Doujin fightans out there they can actually place quite high.

Third Strike, while it may be the best SF game, SF is still extremely basic, it's almost like "the" template of all fighter games, I wouldn't really say that it's bad because it isn't really all that bad, but it has nothing special, other than the basics it has nothing that could take it further, it truly is a basic fighter game.
CvS2, MvC2, SF clones but these games introduced some further gameplay elements, while remaining minor edits giving quite the change to the core gameplay, still just some basic SF clones with some added content.

SF2THD It might be good for a SF game but it's still just another SF game. Personally I would rate Third Strike higher and this game could perhaps be placed together with Third Srike in Mid but I placed in in Low now as I still consider it to not be as good. Certinaly a top game within the Low tier though.
SF4: I bet they tried to make something really special out of this but it's still just another SF game and the end product could never measure up against other SF games.
KOF12, the KoF games have always been just like the SF game and they have been competing with eachother since like forever. In it's essence it's basically SF, personally I have always prefered KoF over SF though, mainly due to the in my opinion slightly more interesting character rooster and larger rooster overall. I would say this game rates quite evenly with SF2THD.
The Tekken games are in my opinion quite fun games for non serious gaming, a somewhat in depth story(perhaps not the best but still detailed) and some fun "special game modes". If we weren't talking about competitive gaming I would rate Tekken6 a lot higher but as we are this is where it's placed on my list.
SC4: the previous SC games were in my opinion a lot better as for competitive gameplay that is. As with Tekken the SC games can be very fun for non serious gaming and given all the different gamemodes and special stuff in the games/game I guess it could be placed quite a bit higher on another list, on this one it's placed in the Low tier though.

There, I actually commented how and why I rated the games as I did.

I think the one that is at fault here is EVO itself for promoting tournaments with SO FEW fighting games.

if anyone is further hurting the fighting game community is themselves for making us argue about which game deserves to be there the most, making us all separated while we could be growing stronger together, a good example is Capcom fans vs Arcana/melty fans, Im pretty sure they could learn to like more fighting games if they had REAL people to play them competitively, which essentially is what EVO is all about.

I mean, what the fuck did EVO do to guilty gear? did BB really replace it even though it still isnt as improved as it is? one of the few things Ive learned in my work life is that you dont have to put limitations in your projects but always keep making them bigger, even if the whole world disagrees with you.

if this where in my hands I would say fuck it and add kof98UM, AH3, MBAA, GGAC and CvS2 to the fucking list of tournament games, who cares if few people assist to them? at least you showed you cared for them, hoping to improve their community.

Because 3s is a much deeper and technical game than Melty can ever be. I'd like to see a seasoned MB player pull off the Keeper Jin with Yun in 3S. Though I'm sure in 30 minutes a seasoned Yun could start mastering BnBs in Melty with any character.

3S and any SF game really is largely about zoning. Though MB might have some sort of zoning aspect to it, it is mostly long range whereas most of the game you are working to pressure your opponent and rushdown and 3S is largely about this too.

Not that MB is a bad game but it certainly ISN'T better than 3S. And if you think 3S is Chun-li vs Chun-li or Ken vs Ken ALL THE TIME then you are very, very wrong. The best players play Ibuki, Urien, Necro, Q, etc. The great 3S players encompass all of the cast.

I've watched many videos of MBAA on a-cho. The game requires you to mash to reduce damage done do to you. And certainly, I'm not the greatest Melty player there is but I do understand the mechanics surrounding the game but if you're talking top-level play, I'm nowhere near that level nor anywhere near the level I play in SF. That much is true. Though me saying that CvS2 and 3S are better games than Melty does not mean you can't prefer Melty over them. When I say they are "better" games, I am referring to them on the technical aspect of the game and how the mechanics work. Though, I suppose you could say that having more advanced mechanics doesn't make a better game.

Seriously, don't talk shit about other games if you haven't even played them. The execution in 3S and other SF games is largely artificial: you can make any other fighting game harder by making more normals links instead of chains and cancels.
