for vanilla/OO you pretty much have to be worshipping kumi, and have him turn rotten meat into seeds. E+ you complete harvest time for seeds, and both have the cute fairy as kumi's god pet, who vomits seeds in exchange for being fed.

It fucks up my perception on how far an enemy is, like how an enemy looks like two tiles on my left turns out is actually one tile on my diagonal left.
That and it being pretty wonky with it's perspective such as showing pathways that you should've been able to traverse but you actually can't (like some of the pathways in Derphy).

Gradually as I lose I get better and stronger. Also, do cluster bombs just do an insane level of damage? I had over 400 PV and over 1572 and that shit took me out in one hit. Still in act 1 of E+ but had a few questions about efficiency.
Is there any reason why I would want the land battleship over the truck? From the comments sections of the wiki it mentioned that higher tier bonuses don't by default have the bonuses of the lower tier ones. So I'd lose out on the movement buff while on roads, which is where I mostly travel so that I can ignore rogue encounters (a bad thing cause they're easy kills + free loot) as well as monster ambushes (trivial).
The cargo bonus is nice but that's essentially just 1 more Christmas tree cargo for a 100 fold cost in monthly upkeep.

First time ever pressing the unison attack button and it straight up instakilled a boss from a 100 to 0.

Gave Omake a try/look. Certainly different, with some interesting ideas... though it seems very prone to just getting divide by zero errors and suddenly crashing.

Or at least, the Elona_oomSESTepNC_EasyInstall that I found has that happen quite often. (Well, I'd say like 4 times within an hour as pretty often)

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a single Living Weapon pre-gen artifact thing. Or a way to turn an artifact into one.

Actually got to trade for a Living Weapon early on in Plus, and I have learned they are pretty powerful.

I have also learned that resistances are a pain to get, and my pets seem to get obliterated by spells in comparison to me, even though I don't think I have any real innate resistances or much from my gear.

Maybe in Omake it could be okay, because of the Martial Art feat stuff making it deal like +100% damage and some other perks from another? But even then, you're sacrificing the ability to have Living Weapons.

Hand to Hand can work well early on, but tends to fall off the longer and longer the game goes on. Then again, you can just start with H2H, go into Magic and still be fine. Then punch people who get close.

In my Omake adventures, the only winning strategy I've found early on (without Snacking), is to play a Blacksmith. And just keep mining in Puppy Cave to slowly, slowly amass money.

Also making gear which is kinda neat, even if the system is limited. And the identify costs in vanilla were absurd, and Sense Quality is a long ways off. And I think in Omake does basically nothing.

God, while Omake certainly makes me feel weak and limited compared to Plus, the Autodig is amazing.

From some testing, Omake seems to remember if you ever Snacked it, and your God will sass you everytime you load up the game after. Well, at least they'll be disappointed in you.

Well. Did a quick fresh install, and using Wizard Mode to nab the Unknown Shell real fast... and I still get sass about, "Uhh... you really used that thing? Oh well" kind of thing.

So either it sasses you for using EloSnack or Wizard Mode or both. And how it tracks this is a mystery to me.

Try this:
1. Install the game to a 32-bit wineprefix
2. Using winetricks/protontricks, install the directmusic and gmdls dependencies
2a. That's all that's needed for directly playing the game's MIDI directly. If you get an audio pop on bootup, switching dsound from "native" to "builtin" in winecfg fixed it for me.
3. For playing MP3, you need the "gstreamer1.0-plugins-good:i386" dependency directly installed on your system.

There is also a way to stream the MIDI through your own player on the system, but I never fussed with it.

One last thing for playing the game on the fahnny penguin machine: You can also swap out the font the game uses in config.txt to something else.

I feel like it has a better progression curve than plus.
Played long enough in both versions to beat act 1 and fighting Zeome (as well as climbing Lesimas) was much more fun since it was actually challenging.
You level way too fast in plus and you have so many different special actions I was actively resisting the urge to use them just so I didn't faceroll nefias and the like.
Can't comment on the true end game for either since I haven't played long enough to reach it.
Also slight bias, but I found the OOMSEST feat reworks also much more interesting then E+. They feel strong but not OP, and also rewards you for specializing. Ex: Fire ball turns into a legit fireball that you can throw at a group of enemies to nuke them once you put two levels into fire magic.

The Feats in OOMSEST are certainly far more interesting. The job ones you pick at creation are a bit annoying, because what they do is rather vague and you don't seem to have a chance to change them.

The numbers seem different as well, since I didn't need 40 Faith to get the 3rd tier God reward. There is certainly a nice progression feel to how slow it is though.

Also your pets getting Feats and being able to eat food directly from their inventory is very handy. Along with using other items. It is far more annoying to deal with Cursing though - I can't see how you'd last long without ensuring you take Exorcist as one of your Feats so random sleep events don't just curse/doom all your gear.

Speaking of OOMSEST, since the Elona Wikia isn't up to date on that... any clue what the Gods specific to it grant?

You just need to get the god weapon from 7 main gods to get a titles that allows you to obtain all god pets. The animal god increases breed power based on faith. I make Elona plays sound and music in Linux by editing the music list and changing them all into mp3, then converting the midi in the sound folder into mp3. The food shop is my stable income and the normal one is for the items i got from nefias. Elona + is Ano meta. Omake variant follows Noa's vision so it's a terrifying grind. Omake end game is the same as vanilla Elona aka stand in one place and press the s button until you are god.

Still not entirely sure how Smithing works in Omake. I get how leveling it up works, and that gets you a higher Enhance cap (which is great).
But how the quality and strength of what you make is determined... not sure at all.

Just encountered an enemy on my farm that ironically enough was a giant mole that dug a massive hole in one of my field tiles.
Is this going to be an issue with it no longer providing the field bonus effect? It doesn't says it's a field tile when I walk over it and I don't know how to restore the field tile if it weren't.

Are you new? There are numerous ways to make money. For example, do escort/delivery quests. If possible take multiple at once. They'll act as bodyguards if you are low-level. Short-term you want to do delivery/escort missions to get platinum. Your first long-term goal is always going to be securing a reliable means of restoring your stat potentials, either via blessed potions of potential or large picnic baskets.

Omake Overhaul. That one is the closest to the original Elona experience. Which is to say, its pretty hard and unforgiving early on.

The advice others have given you is for Elona Plus, which is much easier to get into.

For Omake, one bit of advice that works: the Little Girl you start with is what does all your fighting early on, honestly. She can do a lot.

Is evasion not viable? I supposedly have 1400% and many attacks miss but when something does hit it's usually either one-shotting or taking off a huge chunk. I've probably died 50+ times over the past day or two and nearly all of those deaths were from big hits.

DV has always been the gimped stat of the DV/PV combo. The most dangerous creatures often are just way ahead of the DV curve no matter what, so there's no damage mitigation when the big hits come. PV at least has that damage mitigation.

I swear Emergency evasion used to be more powerful in older version, as in letting you completely tank Gods with dodge at extremely low level. But since it's nerfed nowadays, DV is useless
