Alright, second half of Monoke I watched without subs. When I do that, I hear more, but understand less. Strange. It's particularly difficult to discern words inside long sentences. They just become a mish-mash, and even if I can catch each syllable, I can collect them into the constituents; my brain just returns nothing. I can't process "conjugations" fast enough. And particles just confuse the hell out of me. They are most likely responsible in turning the speech into goulash.

i'm just getting into Anime so i'm still a newb but one episode is enough for me to learn like 5+ easy words. i keep a notepad file open and just note the ones down that stick out to me and look them up quickly after the episode. then start the next episode and do it again. not sure if this is a great method but it sounds better than 0 words in 8 hours. not sure how you manage that

Tbh most of the advice is garbage, yes immersion is the best, but it means comprehensible input, if you don't understand whats being said it does nothing...
Also coredecks are a beginner's trap, though its better than nothing, but I think its better to pair up actual kanji radical study (doesn't matter the method, but slow progression from radicals first for you to get familiar with how its drawn and differentiate), and pair up with some easy immersion
