In a couple of anime I watched (namely, Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru and Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman) there is a gyaru character, and I noticed they speak often using なんだけど and similar expressions as sentence ending, like:
もう最悪なんだけど
ちょっとどうしたの?暑いんだけど
見てほしかったんじゃないのかよって何あの言い方?ありえないんですけど
I tried looking around for some info about this, but I could find anything relevant beside some translation that tries to express it as "damn" or something similar, which backs my feeling that it adds emphasis.
I'm wondering if it's something like akin to other role languages, maybe a way to emphatize what's being said and stress the gyaru character of the speaker, but I'm not sure if there is something more.

I'm making a Japanese learning website using wordpress. It's an "alternative content" site. I'm thinking about doing a video game in Japanese. In which case, I can just screenshot every bit of text but that's so old school. What can I do different that will help people learn? I can ask myself since I'm still learning. The site is going to be collaborative, which will require a little moderation like a wiki (in spirit). I need to do this so I can move out of my parents basement before I turn middle aged, too socially stunted to get a real job. What does djt think? I'm doing Diablo 2 ressurected in Japanese rigth now and absolutely adoring it. I want to share and help others learn through the same content but without having to buy the game or anything.

This post is really a sanity and delusion check because this is my life direction right now.

amaterasu's language is that of Gods, a language so advanced that not one, not two, but three writing systems were required to even hope to capture it for mortals
not only that, but where lesser tongues are binary, japanese its a quantum based language where the reading of words is not absolute, but rather dependent on the observer, the sentence, the region; and perhaps, divine will itself
no other language on earth is like that!
truly, the tongue of a goddess!

if i could not define, or even read the definition of a word in japanese, then i was merely changing the skin of an english word
so i looked for easier dictionaries first, and then i mined the words from the definitions and went deeper and deeper until i got to something i understood.
as for why japanese is the way it is? as always the answer is that Amaterasu willed so

that anon, or someone like him said the same thing to me a long time ago, but in my particular case, im curious about everything and i don't find diving the dictionary annoying, but rather, a lot of fun
if i did advise something it would be to find what it is that works for you, and do that
also what you mine and when changes over time, a lot. don't worry about getting everything right, just keep moving. the road is very, very, very long and youll have more than enough time to fine tune things later.

Isn't that kind of the same thing in reverse though? Mining the compound word and hoping you remember the components if you see them alone? I suppose defaulting to the one that could result in less work makes sense though.

Today I mined 食物連鎖 and decided against mining 連鎖 because the results in Jisho seemed like mostly bullshit I wouldn't encounter except for 連鎖反応 and 連鎖店.

and then there's some kanji I never really noticed they were actually different characters until recently like 義 議 儀 犠 (I guess it's not that much of a deal since they share the same readings but it still bothers me a bit)

teletubby retard alert. what you see here is an example of one or more teletubby retards; fully grown men that spend endless hours watching japanese teletubbies because their brains have rotten to the point of mush.

how to spot a teletubby retard:
>they worship teletubbies as a cope for their inability to get laid in real life
>they incessantly post pointless and meaningless pics and webms of their retarded teletubbies
>in addition to doing so because they are innately retarded, they spam as a means to annoy regular posters in the thread
>they are incapable of discussing a single topic other than teletubbies
>their “discussions” about teletubbies have the vocabulary level and sentence structure of a 3 year old screaming after it has soiled itself

what to do if you see a teletubby retard:
>tell them that they are retarded in the harshest terms possible
>mock them for being the biggest losers on earth
>do not fall for their act of pretending to be innocent and nice because they make their posts at least partially in order to annoy non-teletubby retards (the other reason is because they are retarded)

no, you don't understand them, you only recognize the kanji and guess the sounds. doing that correctly gives you the false impression of comprehension, but if you wrote down a detailed explanation of what you think the text means before looking anything up and then checked your written explanation afterwards, you would realize how far off you are. that gap is the real comprehension gap.

there's also a slim possibility that you do understand the text fully, but not fast enough to process raw japanese at a natural speed, but this usually only happens when you already became good at some point and are coming back to japanese after a break. your listening experience would also be very different if this is the case: just pausing for 1-2 seconds after each phrase wouls result in full comprehension

Behold, my theory on kanji learning and what keeps me going. The full circle is kanji in its entirety, and the letters are the point you've reached compared to where you started at A.

>B
Your first foray is going from A to B, but between those two points there isn't much of the complete circle because you don't know many kanji.
>C
You've only gone the same distance as before, except now a bigger chunk of the circle has been unlocked and you're starting to see full words compromised of kanji you know.
>D/E/F/G
Between these points you're suddenly seeing huge chunks of kanji comprehension as you begin to recognise more and more. These middle parts are where you're making the most gains.
>H
The gains slow down as you start struggling to find things you've never seen before and come to finishing the circle. This is more or less just the finishing touches.

This is what it feels like to me, anyhow. Lately I've been starting to recognise more and more random kanji. I set Steam to Japanese and understand half the shit I see, and not just because I've used English Steam for years so know what it says anyway.
