So, is there a purpose in this game?
Or should I just keep on wandering through the entire dreamworld and just collect stuff I find? Which is also fine by me.

It's not really a sequel, and nope, not finished yet. It seems to have suffered something from having entered a warp tunnel (why the hell did it go to version 0.070 from version 0.086), but it looks like it's back on track.

>>4217407
Don't say that, Anon. It's not as bad as you think - and I could it feels even more interesting than the original, for me at least - but that could be because I wasn't able to explore it together with everyone because of my laziness.

Exactly. Yume2kki is a fan-made project.
That doesn't mean it's bad.

Another interesting fan-made Yume Nikki-like you might want to see is called .flow. I haven't tried it yet, but you can get it here (along with the latest yume2kki versions): http://loda.jp/yume2kki/

I thought it was just a different way of writing it (like writing K1 in stead of Keiichi), but wikipedia notes it as a sequel.

I like yume nikki, but there really are some parts that are pretty impossible for one to find out on his own.

Sleeping in the bed in the spaceship until it crashes for example.

I thought that part was pretty obvious.

But then again I can't help but think that the musical creature in the martian mountain had something to offer besides a melancholic jingle, yet I could find nothing.

yume nikki is the original, but i have no qualms against 2kki because i have not played it. however i have read that it has more direction, and less 'aimless wandering' which is what is an often complaint about yume nikki.
