Sup, fansubber here, wish I knew where to get JP subs for currently airing shows... Do you need to be ripping directly from a TV cable feed in Japan or something?

It'd just be nice if everyone in the world wasn't dependent on one Ukranian website with a forgetful owner... (no offense kitsunekko, you're awesome when you're actually up)

FYI it's not so much the sub content itself, I can understand everything by ear just fine. It's more for the timings so I don't have to do all that myself. Makes the process smoother so I can get the subs out more quickly.

And occasionally there's the odd word I don't know, or a character will yell/mumble something that I can't make out, so JP subs are a lifesaver there too.

If anyone is an uploader to kitsunekko (before it died again), do you upload anywhere else? Thanks!

there's a difference between genius and being well behind the curve.

when you're a shitter you have to live with it for the rest of your life. you'll never catch up and you have to endure that fact for the entire time you're in any journey of self improvement. you have to constantly meet the people you could have been if you didn't fuck up again and again because 90% of the people that didn't give up within the first few months are exactly that

idk if you play league but it's like you fuck up the early game and you're constantly trying to catch up from behind, there's no goal besides "catching up" or "fixing mistakes" anymore when you're old and slow

みなさん、おはよう!お元気ですか?

This could be an odd request. I have a bachelor degree in japanese that provided a N3 level. Thing is, I didn’t actually practice my japanese in the last two years. I went to one of the best uni for this language in Europe, therefore most of the grammar is still stuck in my brain but unfortunately kanji reading and speaking/writing level went downhill. As of now, I think I’m at a N5 level.

I really want to get back and finally make this language my own once and for all, but I don’t want to study it on school grammar books anymore. I need suggestions for books (whether it’s an exercise book or novels) , youtube channels, series, movies that can help me improve my kanji/vocabulary, something that could help me improve and make me fluent with a “everyday” japanese and not an academic one.

Thank you and happy holidays!

many factors go into getting a high retention. i have 90%+ retention for young cards for example, but for rare mature cards it's probably around 60-70%.
how many cards you have matters a lot, as does your anki settings and what kind of cards you add. but lastly how you grade yourself has a big impact as well.
so its basically useless to compare retention to other people.

None of these things matter. I spent ages playing with anki settings and it's placebo benefit; you get the same retention.

yes of course if you do sentence cards your retention will be different, but nobody is doing sentence cards. everyone grades themselves roughly the same and this doesn't effect retention much either.

it just takes multiple passes. reading a long sentence is like reading a paragraph there's probably multiple ideas being put in there

It's the best thing I could have done. Learning readings and meanings and whatnot, when you can't even remember the characters themselves, is stupid. You need some kind of mental anchor to stick all that additional information to. And that's where RTK comes in. It will teach you nothing else but how to recognize individual kanji but each and every kanji will be fucking cemented in your mind so hard you will remember it even after months or years of not seeing that kanji.
Obviously if you are able to remember those weird scribbles naturally, it's not needed, but this is not a skill every westerner has. i have found a source of rtk shill pasta

Are you basing that on personal experience? That varies from person to person, I have not personally experienced an increase in difficulty forming relationships with others as I’ve gotten older
>…harder it gets to […] make moves in your career, get in shape
So what? you can still do those things

What is “it”? Getting in shape? Learning Japanese? Forming a long term relationship with a woman?
It should go without saying that you arent going to make progress in anything unless you prioritize it and approach it in a disciplined way
I dont personally think that if you didnt prioritize something in your 20s that is magically becomes an impossible thing to prioritize thereafter
Maybe you didnt give a shit about forming a long term relationship in your 20s because you wanted to stack savings and focus on your career
I dont see how that suddenly makes it impossible to adjust your priorities for your 30s and work on forming a long term relationship with someone
Just because you didnt achieve something in your 20s doesnt magically make it an impossible task for you and I dont understand the defeatist attitude around here

throwing my two cents in, you should have something or clearly working towards something by 30
that doesn’t mean that you won’t be successful later in life
there are extenuating circumstances, but that’s on you to work harder or be luckier
my father was pretty much fucked in life at 30, he managed to turn it around, but he’s a more enduring man than i could ever be

>because you wanted to stack savings and focus on your career
your scenario is about a man who focused on one thing and therefore made it in that thing instead of another. obviously someone who achieved financial independence by 30 and probably has his shit together is not the kind of ngmi that i'm talking of.

i'm talking about men who drop out of college and go go back at like 25, people who can't hold down a job and are NEETs, people who set the same goals every year and never meet them
when they turn 30 what indication is there that any of them will have any ability to succeed? their past history is one of failure, what makes the next thing different?

Reminds me of KyoAni day.
>[An eyewitness] lady said between sobs, "Someone left in the building was begging for help from a window. I couldn't tell if they were a man or a woman. Their mouth was bright red against their blackened body covered completely in soot, even their face. All I could tell was that they were crying out "HELP! HELP" again and again. Soon they stopped moving against the window and burned into it like a shadow. Then I heard the din of ambulance sirens and helicopters flying by."

This moeway guy doesn't know English or Japanese. He's an ESL who spends all day spamming his poorly written "guide" on 4chan so that people give him money on Patreon. Pretty pathetic.
If you want to learn Japanese, follow people who actually know jack shit when it comes to learning a foreign language. Tatsumoto's guide to Japanese is among them.

This is what I do now. I also decided to stop pucking precise translation from long lost of all possibilities and just use the word itself as a placeholder. It's slow, it's a process, there are things I must skip (which is something I hate doing) like somosomo, things that I can only search in jp-jp environment. ah
i do a ton of anki still and it feels like it shaves the time required to remember how words are written considerably, but i wouldn't worry about gaps, theyll get filled when they do the same way everything else is
when i started i also tried doing things linearly and methodically but that fell apart when i got past n2 and now i just do/mine/listen to whatever
good luck bro
