Just going to throw an idea out there.
What if /djt/ collaborated on a simple text transcript database to help new learners with reading using a text hooker? There wouldn't be any translations, just the raw text so it should be pretty simple and basic.
Pic related is a mockup. But it could be for manga, vn's, even videos I guess.

The site wouldn't have to host the media itself, people can download it from other sources like they normally would and then open it in an external program and just use this new site to help reading the text.
And maybe also some wiki-style editing or something, so users can submit things and correct errors.

Thoughts? Is it a dumb idea?

So like someone could upload the transcript from an OCR scan, and then while reading it if they spot errors they can actually change them.
And everyone would benefit from it. Eventually if you have a manga that's been read by a few people you'd be pretty confident the text is going to be accurate.

That's why I was wondering if people would say this is a dumb idea.
Because I'm still learning too, and every time I try to learn by reading manga it just feels so fucking slow. Like I could learn 10x faster with a text hook.

A lot of english definitions are weird and confusing, making my retention lower, my rep time longer and the amount of "acquired" words I just forget bigger. Changing the definitions to jp should improve these in the long run (already seeing some improvements, actually).
