I had my doubts but judging from your pastebin detailing the process it makes sense, you did a ton of research before actually doing the animation, it all paid off and your first animation ended looking much better than what a first attempt usually does.

Attempted Cirno from memory, I also cannot grasp the magical spells needed to visualize things in anything other than a t-pose

what do you guys think about this "exercise." make a 2d shape, grab a line off it. make a line from the corner to the end of the new line like in <. you'll notice that the lines begin to form pairs; keep those parallel. as you add lines, your brain will straight up just see it in 3d. the goal is to do this with seemingly normal shapes at first, and then pushing it. maybe put the stolen line really close vertically but far horizontally. push until you stop seeing the 3d. try circles and curves too. try stacking shapes and doing multiple at once. my goal was to make shapes like this my default when drawing, with the true far-off end goal being to eventually not see the shape as flat, but as a projection of a real thing that you could hold in your hand. that comes a lot later (apparently, i don't know when, i'm still working on it), but if you've never experimented with 3d on paper before, like i had, you might find it as cool as i did too.

In my notes a main point I wrote was that mokou looked like a goblin, and I knew it from 15 minutes in. I'll also say that textured digital brushes are basically appeal generators, combined with the fact that I used a simple but effective finish of an outline of a greater thickness than interior details it makes the thing look more solid, and thus better. But getting comfy in something like that breeds complacency, so I'll have to try something else for the next thing

It's a tough habit to break, I'm trying to finish older pieces now before I start on anything new.

The last part I finished would be the town in the background and the rightmost trees, which I did right after drawing in Youmu. I had put of the town until the end because I knew it would take a long time to draw this part despite it only being a small section. And the trees to the right, I didn't plan to draw anything here originally, but after looking over the full image I decided to put them in since this area felt empty compared to the rest of the image. at this point i just felt that the image was complete, and that no further details was needed to get the atmosphere I was going for. I didn't really draw this in a systematic manner, since I tend to draw with intuition. I do suffer from perfectionistic tendencies just as you though, I have made tons of small adjustment under the way, but since this was an old drawing I was coming back to I was able to look at it with a fresh view so I could judge the image more objectively, and see what I actually needed to work on. So I guess my solution when I get to the stage where I get to focused on small details, is to just take a break. I also see tutorials sometimes encourage you to draw with a time limit, I guess drawing with a "time budget" could help breaking the habit of becoming to fixated on details.

I think that being perfectionist can be a very useful trait as a artist, but it's definitively important to learn to balance it otherwise your work can turn out stiff and undynamic, and you'll loose the overall feeling of the image causing inconsistencies

putting bones and forms on a mannequin model is difficult. Reference helps but the pieces still don't fit. I'm making much better time in finishing this; Half the time compared to the first. I'm also having to apply practical solutions to questions I can't answer like "if I don't know how to draw an arm, just imagine a close-enough arm-like form." trying to make appealing anime head/face forces concentration on proportion, and the roughs show my issues with how the face changes shape.
