I think they call this one the "Hybrid Active Figure". I don't understand why they make this collaborations with big franchises and then use those painted eyes. The Happiness Clover Series also has painted eyes. Both are 1/3 scale.

The price is not surprising, and the amount available is actually more than the usual for this kind of artists. The only problem is that we bastards gaijins don't live in glorious nippon land to be able to buy them. Well, from time to time is possible to find them second hand on sites like Mercari or Mandarake.

There's an Obitsu 150 on ebay right now for $2500, but you can get one with a faceup straight from Obitsu for $1750. They have painted-on eyes, so bear that in mind. (If you want to mod one for open eyes and do a custom faceup, kemonomimi eyes might be a good fit for the size of the head.

In particular I'd recommend Doll Coordinate, there's even a book meant specifically for pure/picco sizes (small dolls) and it has step by step instructions.
As for faceup materials I think it's just the standard BJD/vinyl stuff like Mister super clear for sealant and acrylics/watercolor pencil/watercolor pastels, though I think painting the eyes themselves is probably harder than just doing the eyelashes like on a doll with inset eyes.

In Japan exits a considerable community of porcelain/bisqué doll artist, and a lot of people collect their dolls. I do not mean the classic Hina dolls and the like, but actual bjd dolls made from porcelain/bisqué that look very western and modern. In Japan, bjd made of different kind of clay are way older than the super dollfies made by Volks (I mean, Simon Yotsuya started making bjds in 1965).
Unfortunately many of the bjd artists that work with clay show their work in small art exhibitions, or sell the dolls trough dedicated art galleries, so their dolls aren't easily available to buy.

How do people tell what sculpt a doll is? Smd volks azone???

You start to get a feel for head sculpts once you've seen them for a while. SMD tends to have flatter faces with pursed lips, Volks sculpts tend to have a lot of depth to them and most people use standard heads for customs that you can pick up on after seeing a few, Azone ones only have a few head molds that have a pretty distinct look to them (nose shape is pretty unique on most of their standard heads) or they have printed eyes. An easy way to tell the bodies apart is that Azone uses Obitsu based skeletons, so you'll see the prominent shiny joint caps on the knees and elbows; SMD bodies have very straight and thin limbs, and a joint under the bust line, whereas Volks bodies have a waist joint (or no torso joint) and the limbs have more shape to them. If it's specific sculpts then you're usually looking for eye shape (round, tall, sharp, thin etc), mouth shape (prominent lips, no lips, smile, frown), and chin shape (angular, round, puffy cheeks, etc)

The knee joints are directly connected to the inner frame, so you would have to change the inner frame of the other dolls in you want to use them. Dollfies Dreams and SmartDolls have a very different frame, and are taller, so I wouldn't think it's possible.
On the other hand, Angel Philia uses the same frame than Azone, and the good thing is that Angel Philia sells individual parts so it's possible to make different combinations.

I stayed up until 5 this morning making this coat for my doll. I used a pattern from the MEGA (Doll Coordinate, the one all about felt) and aside from the hood being way bigger than I expected, but for my 1st try at this stuff I'm very happy with it!
When I'm less tired I'll try and make a full set of winter clothes for her.

Man, I don't envy you right now. That is a tough choice! Whatever you pick you'll be getting a wonderful doll.
And yeah, scalpers really seem to love the Sugar Cups line. I was considering getting the new Anniversary Candylulu but getting it from a 3rd party will probably cost as much as a 1/4 scale doll at that point...
