I tried to apply for game dev job but they rejected me because of the "personality test" made by antifairi that said that I have mental illness and not yayness. The other company was yay but they can`t give me work visa because working hours a 2hour/day so only kids and dream magic archmages can apply but I have no Jp citizenship sadly... I guess my life is over :c qwq yms

"The nobler and more perfect the creature, the later and slower it matures.
A true fairi is forever kinder and never reaches "maturity" of mind and spiritual strength even by the age of 2001, while an antifairi is already mature at 18 or even earlier.
But this is also the reason for underdevelopment: antifairi as a reversed fairi remains children in a bad way all their lives.
They always see only what is in front of their noses, don`t care about dream magic and astral plane dimensions stick only to the present,
wishful thinking and prefer to delve into the little things instead of doing important things
like fruityEcology development education and yaying.
Reason says that it is not good for a person to live like an animal only in the present.
The true fairi kid must review the past and think about the future, from which his caution, care and concern follow."

everyfairi undercover included please help what to do :c
I going to "yms" seriously if I can`t stay in Japan or apply for asylum in California with lgbtqia program... I can`t go to Russia because I will be in jail or tortured by antifairi occupant`s military&psychiatric beasts666 by "law"
>Oh right Putin kills gays(Children of Gaia)

Well it is just the small part of problem: you can be lgbt community there yayly if you are not interacting with "society"(vulgar multitude). Even though I am androgynous^asexual Christian-puritan the main problem is the disgustting law for every male passport holder that you need to "sign up" for military service and get through medical&psychiatric commisiion traps for fairi included and wait to be drafted which I will never do but there is a punishment for fairi up to 2years in prison. A lot of people just give up and sign up but my "religion" does not allow this and I will never do that. ... so I even left Russia before I became 16yo so I never signed up that shit I HATE THE ANTIFAIRI^

i hate diminishing returns of learning vocabulary. suppose 2k let's you understand 80% of written text, 4k will bring that up to, say, 90%. not bad, not great. but at 6k you might optimistically get to 95%. so you ask yourself why keep going for such miniscule gains?
but that's a fallacy, for each step decreased your vocabulary ignorance by half.

no, no, no not from the start, you aren't particularly stupid, this sucks for everyone at the beginning, just watch or listen to simple stuff, its what everyone says, you will NOT understand everything, but you don't have to, you will slowly pick up words here and there and be able to look them up, and over time, you end up understanding more and more and more
you have to do it every day, and eventually it clicks.
japanese is like a puzzle with 50 thousand pieces that all can fit in different spots and of which you have no picture beyond a fuzzy idea of what it should look like.
as you grab more and more pieces, it gets easier to see which ones you are missing and to go on
https://mangareader.to/read/chainsaw-man-96/ja/chapter-1
try reading that, or dragon ball, or listening to anything or playing anything really and looking up things as you go
for what its worth itll never suck more than it does now and when you get your footing its really very fun

DJT, I want to buy an e-reader, with the main use being ofc reading japanese web and light novels.
Very conflicted on Kobo libra 2 vs Kindle paperwhite.
Which one is better for japanese in particular?
I know Kindle has a way to export all the words you looked up in the dictionary, and quickly make anki cards from it, does Kobo have similar feature?
Which one is faster at the actual look up part? I don't want a laggy device.
Is Kindle Unlimited good enough in terms of JP light novels specifically to warrant siding towards the kindle in this comparison?
129 euro for kindle paperwhite 8gb, 159 euro for kobo libra 2 32gb btw.

It's surprising to me how seemingly unpopular kobo stuff is.
In videos reviewers always say how good the kobo are for the price compared to evil amazon, but then when asking for people that have e readers everyone just has a kindle.
Whatever, I think in the end I'll buy a kindle as well, I prefer the libra 2 in terms of format/shape for one handed reading in bed but the kindle seems to be more feature rich.
Hopefully 8gb are enough, I'm not splurging on a higher tier model.

Anybody got advice on learning the proper usage of particles or have useful graphs?
I'm always mixing them up when I'm doing tasks that only focus on putting in the correct particle.
Especially the particles が、を、に、で and in some cases even は cause me trouble.

Subject Object Verb.

Subjects in Japanese and English are in the same position, but the object and the verb are flipped.

You've got particles to mark different parts of speech. This is especially helpful as Japanese writing uses no spaces (most of the time).

は (wa) marks the topic of a sentence

が (ga) marks the subject

を (wo) marks the object

There's far more than that but that will get you through the beginning stages.

For verbs there are 4 main conjugations.

-ます (masu) present positive

-ません (masen) present negative

-ました (mashita) past positive

-ませんでした (masendeshita) past negative

For the most part there is no "future" tense in Japanese. It's kind of just lumped together with present tense. The above are the formal verb conjugations. There's also a set of informal ones

-(dictionary form) present positive

-ない (nai) present negative

-た / -だ (ta/da) past positive

-なかった (nakatta) past negative

There are other verb conjugations, but these are the main ones that will help you get started. From what I've found, Japanese coursework does a good job of introducing new conjugations little by little.

If You Really Care About Becoming Native-Like, Don't Read (self.LearnJapanese)

EuphoricBlonde

[-1] が 1分前 投稿

It's a common fact that many people who learn a language through reading still struggle with listening comprehension—and, in effect, pronunciation as well—even though they can read hundreds of difficult novels with no issues.

It'll take you longer to learn with this method, but if you really want to come as close as you can to a native speaker, try to read as little as possible until you're at least "semi-fluent". Learning how to read when you're already fluent is incredibly easy. Doing the opposite, not so much.

It's really embarrassing when people are this self-centred that they cannot help themselves from making everything so personal. This isn't targetting you for learning through reading. Try not to take such offence from a completely innocent post next time, okay?

That aside, I'm not sure how this is not clicking for you. If a portion of your language learning comes from reading, you're bound to necessarily mispronounce words in your head as you're reading. And as you must know, people don't tend to ever break language-based habits after they're set in stone. That's one aspect. There's also the fact that when you hear the language in spoken form, your brain will inevitably not be as quick to comprehend it, since the way it acquired these sounds in the first place wasn't through spoken form.

Something like this is pretty impossible to document, which is probably why there's no available studies on it. Anecdotes are all we have, and based on everyone I've seen and talked to, I've never heard about someone who's learned a language through listening being less proficient than someone who learned through reading. Assuming they're both fluent, obviously. I'm including myself in this. I can't imagine being as capable of comprehending spoken English if I didn't learn through listening, just like a native speaker. For example, I can easily listen to speech in 3x and even 4x speed sometimes without issue. There's absolutely no way I'd be able to do that if a significant chunk of my initial learning came from reading.

You did make a really dumb comment about reading, though. I don't know about you, but learning how to read in school wasn't exactly hard. I imagine plenty of kids learned it before they even started school. Unless you have a learning disability, in what universe could learning how to read in a language you already know not be way easier? What are you even saying?

btw its normal not to recognize things in context, anki is much much easier than reading/listening, memory has a lot of confounding factors, and your retention in anki is much higher than in the wild for all sorts of reasons, including you memorizing a picture, guessing from words you know, learned to predict the order of cards/which cards are by each other/etc

whats the difference between
勉強のし甲斐がある
勉強する甲斐がある
勉強し甲斐がある
勉強の甲斐がある

>> No.41841835

>>41841749
the first is just plain wrong, 勉強 is already a noun and doesn't need another の. to make it grammatically correct it should be 勉強するの甲斐がある, but that feels unnatural.
the second and third are pretty much equivalent. there is worth in studying this/studying this is rewarding. bit i think the third one is more common.
the last one just makes a neutral statement. "the worth of study exist"

It's about nine years ago I started learning it for no particular reason; mostly because of a whim "I'm watching a lot of anime so why not try to make the time I spent watching anime useful by learning Japanese at the same time?"

I have now reached N1 level Japanese (which, as I discovered now, is still miles away from actual fluency) and the additional value it has provided to my life is approximately zero. I have no intention of ever moving to Japan, and I have a STEM degree that gives access to jobs that pay many times better than any job involving Japanese.

My enjoyment of Japanese media hasn't improved either. I am still missing about one word every five sentences when watching anime (well, I didn't count, but it feels like that much); if I wasn't trying to maintain my Japanese level, I would prefer just reading the subtitles. Light novels have about four unknown words per page and my reading speed is about half as fast as an average Japanese native. This situation doesn't seem to be improving anytime soon.

In fact, my interest in Japanese media has waned over time. The main reason I am still watching/reading Japanese stuff is a sunk cost fallacy "well, I spent over 4000 hours learning Japanese and it would be a shame to lose that effort due to language attrition." The books I am reading in Japanese right now aren't really boring, but if I wasn't learning Japanese I would probably not be reading their English translations either; if language wasn't a concern I would probably be reading some (English translations of) internationally famous novels instead of restricting myself to Japanese books only.

After having sunk so much time into a language it becomes really hard to just pull the trigger and forget it, even though I probably should.

Over the past nine years, there have been a grand total of three-ish untranslated Japanese works that I was glad I was able to read. All other Japanese works either have a translation available or are not more interesting than your average English work. This was totally not worth the time.

If I could give my younger self advice regarding learning Japanese, then it would be "Do not learn Japanese. It is not worth it."

at this point i have absolutely zero problems with understanding grammar, it's just a matter of acquiring more vocab. for most novels or manga if i have to look up one word every page it's a lot.
but i still can't output very well. it can take me like 10 minutes for even a simple sentence.

it's like theres a lot of japanese drifting around in my head, but it's lacking some nucleus to crystalize around
