I was planning to get my first MDD in December, is it time to wait now then? What will happen with the currently DDH-01, will they fit? Will it change everything from new hands and stuff as well? Will the currently MDD clothes not fit these new ones or nah? I think that at this point, the people doing this kind of faceups and outfits are genuine artist. They can get a very noticeable following of fans, that will pay a lot for their works. I was looking to the history of auctions of this particular artist, and it seems his works are consistently being sold for between 1500 to 3000 dollars. That means people are paying that amount for his works without hesitation. And similar to him, there are many other recognized artist that sell for a lot. You have to remember the Dollfie Dream market in Japan is dominated by male otakus, and Japanese male otakus are famous for the volume of their expending. They usually have good salaries in a first world society with a good quality of life, and not much other opportunities to spend their money than their hobbies.
Anyways, if you pay attention to Yahoo Auctions you can easily find beautiful faceups that are sold at very reasonable prices.

Even if you don't do anything but look at them, they brighten a room. They can be muses for a wide variety of hobbies- making dioramas or clothes, sculpting props, photography, engineering if you decide to make your own doll and want to figure out a joint system- if you have existing hobbies there are usually ways to include dolls. You can do cosplay with them on a small scale, you can make a mini version of a favorite character, you customize them however you like and if you change your mind, you can try something else. Their eyes, wigs, and clothes are all interchangeable and there is an ocean of options to try. Even if you tire of the face, you can simply repaint it, either by yourself, or by paying an artist to do the work for you. It's very much a "make your own fun" type hobby, but that's a good thing for me personally!

After many, many months of being overwhelmed by options and generally waiting on postage I finally put together a new girl from individual parts. Feels like the first time building a new PC. I would say: no. On Aliexpress there are a lot of resin recast dolls, but as far I am aware you will not find vinyl bjds.

On the other hand, if you are able to use Taobao, you can check out the Tinyfox store. Those are 1/3 dolls the size of MDDs but considerably cheaper.

Tinyfox makes 1/4 and 1/6 scale dolls. The one in your picture is a 1/6. They are a lot bigger than Azone's 1/6 dolls. Pic: MDD, TinyFox 1/6, and Azone 1/6
TinyFox is a good option for cheaper dolls. I don't know what they charge for international shipping from their Taobao store, but if it's like their main webstore, you probably have better options, as they wanted to charge me $100 to ship a 1/6 to the US. You could take advantage of the weak yen and order from a Japanese seller (I use lapeonier.shop) with a proxy. There's also an American store that sells TinyFox dolls called Janes Dolland. I don't know if they get them in stock a lot later than the Japanese shop, but I have one preordered there so I'll find out in a few months.

They basically don't exist. Smart Doll made one, but it's impossible to get. Volks makes one, but it's only available if you physically go to Japan, or get one of their limited release male dolls. Obitsu made one, but they discontinued their 55/60/65cm bodies. Granado made one, but they don't sell it anymore honestly... I think that's all of them.

In Japan at least, there is a clear separation of markets and fandoms. The Super Dollfie fandom is dominated by female otakus (a lot of fujoshis and shoujo manga fans). It's not difficult to get a male Super Dollfie.
The Dollfie Dream fandom on the other hand is dominated by male otakus (many lolicons, but also many fans of weapons and robots that mix their hobbies together and are the reason why you will see a lot of photos of MDDs carrying swords and guns). So yeah there is not much demand for male vinyl dolls in the Dolfie Dream fandom.
