Anyone on firefox able to get their japanese font displaying correctly? As per https://learnjapanese.moe/font/ I installed supplemental japanese and it displays fine in Chrome, but not in Firefox. It just says it should be pre-configured, but it isn't and even in the fonts option for firefox, I can't find the fonts it talks about. I'd really rather not use fucking chrome.

Is it just me or the "improved" 2kCore deck kinda sucks?
Some years ago i studied a couple months of the regular core deck and i feel that it made more sense.
It did not focus as much on frequency, but on grouping cards of similar compounds, which made them a lot easier to remember, at least that's how it feels to me.

I honestly can't keep myself studying Japanese with other people. The Japanese language learning community is so unbelievably toxic. It's a shame but I rather just give up on the language then keep learning with people that evil. Like it's not even toxic it's just evil. I could try to study by myself but it's not my style. as a beginner i just came across a decently long sentence where i knew every word and understood it all besides one word
until i realized the word is used as a fighting game term which filled in the blank for me.
most satisfying moment i've had so far since i'm still at the stage where even coming across n+1 sentence is very rare.
just felt like sharing cause i don't have any friends that would care

Japanese, the language to me is a very beautiful language; it is pleasant to the ears like the feeling of love in the heart and it has such interesting of interesting meaning and connotations, what began with anime has grew into something that has gone beyond the love for that medium and now I desire to be able to learn Japanese to heart.

I want and hope to be able to learn Japanese as almost like one's core language, I do not wish to use it for just utility like having to translate this from English to Japanese and Japanese to English as an endgame, I want to imbue it into my being, my heart in the way how a child learns language and uses it for all the good and bad and purposes that may be given to him in life right until the day of his passing. I want to be able to learn it in way that in the end I would be like a native speaker in that its a part of himself, it is not limited to speaking but to thinking as well, in the mind where messages are made, the messages are made through remembering the meaning of words rather than the translations of them, and when decoding the meaning of a message received; the meaning comes with analyzing the message without having to translate it into english first.

Is it possible for one who grew up foreign to the language to achieve this? To learn Japanese well enough that it becomes a part of one's being and as if it were a new "native" tongue?

i used to do reading almost exclusively and it got me from incomprehensible white noise to a point where grammar doesn't pose much of a problem and the only thing holding me back was the extent of my vocabulary, though didn't use anki and i felt like i was stagnating a bit.
so recently i started doing listening every day and create a mining deck (though i hardly mine 5 words a day). not just my listening but also my reading has improved by it.

i think having a healthy mix of both is best. but you can still aquire that "feel" through reading if you subvocalize.
