Is it better to play for cheap, fast hands when you're dealer? I can't help but go for big hands when there's a good chance of getting them, even when I'm winning. I end up in 2nd place after someone else gets sanbaiman or some shit

From experience, the best position to be at is the dealer of the last round, that way you can keep the game going as long as you win with small hands, and if you get a big hand, the game ends instead of continuing for 3 more rounds.

I usually check if my hand is actually capable of becoming anything good (which isnt riichi only) and if it is I'll start building it. Then, if someone declares riichi or starts calling yakuhai or a possible honitsu or chinitsu, I go for a fast escape, more commonly known as a motherfucking open tanyao.
