.......So at the end, Ryukishi is going to be like "Just kidding faggots, Umineko doesn't follow Knox at all!"?

Fuck this shit.

>> No.4150587

The "mystery" wont be revealed until the last episode. Trying to guess and figure it out is pointless.

But what about fun?

Ryukishi took that away when he basically said, "YOU CAN'T LOOK AT THE STORY THIS WAY, STOP IT, I WILL NOT LET YOU. YOU LOOK AT IT THE WAY I WANT YOU TO, OR YOU GO READ SOMETHING WORTHWHILE."

>> No.4150608

Well, he's bald

>> No.4150611

Well, the text was pretty much saying "Well, is it a Mystery, Fantasy or both? We can't tell you."

So just figure it out for yourself. Do you think evidence has proven that magic doesn't exist period?

>> No.4150616

A witch did it.

It's true that some things might not follow the rules, but for the detectives perspective, which has been battler all until ep5, one probably should try and follow them.

The rules aren't just there to say that the writer can't do this or that, they're also there so the reader/detective can't just reason everything out with secret doors and strange unexplainable contraptions.

Oh wow, R07 is even breaking his own rules, what a terrible author. Why do you bother with this shit?

>> No.4150694

>>4150688
Come on, was that even necessary?

>> No.4150703

Following Knox' and Dine's rules perfectly makes for very dull mysteries generally. Just try reading some Van Dine-- it's all very predictable and not all that interesting.

R07's approach of "use Knox as a set of guidelines rather than absolute rules" is more palatable. But it also makes it harder on the reader to figure it out, MOSTLY because he won't stop introducing new characters every damn episode.

Of course it is, you're all acting like he's the best author you've ever seen when all he's doing is writing a visual novel with a good concept that he's executing poorly.

It really is depressing to see you all acting like he's some kind of god of crime fiction when he most certainly isn't. At least Higurashi was slightly more palatable than Umineko is.

I will admit that there are parts of Umineko where I was genuinely interested and excited, but reading it felt like a chore more than anything else most of the time.

Kasumi did it disguised as Kyrie. Mystery solved.

Of course it's necessary. He is a tripfag and he doesn't like Umineko. He must express his unique and valuable opinion. In every single Umineko thread.

>> No.4150771

>>4150756
No, only ones where he breaks his own rules, shows evidence of his shitty writing/poetry, etc. I am fine with genuine theory/character discussion.

That said the majority of theory discussion would be easier if he were better at articulating ideas more fluidly, though that may be a fault of the translation team.
