I don't think there is anyone here that is 4dan and higher with 1800+ rating in Tenhou.

Just remember the four most common yakus in mahjong.
-Riichi
-Fanpai
-Tanyao
-hon/chinitsu

I swear this will be the yakus that you will be using for almost 90% of your hand.
Just use this 3 until you are familiar with the rules and wanna start making bigger scoring hand.
Also if you are starting out don't call tiles unless it is fanpai.

Most of us play 3p rather than 4p, because the games are shorter and for some miraculous reason there's less rage overall. I don't mind winning, say, two or three 3p games and losing one badly, but placing something like 3 2 3 2 in 4p games is just bad.

phoz is like 162/175 in 3p, so you can imagine the standard of the 4p regulars.

3P is sometimes more fun because people don't take it too serious and iishanten hell is much rarer.

I've also noticed that people tend to play much more aggressive in 3p. I only recently got to appreciate 3p and have only 80 games in 7447, but with a 1位率 of .500 and all those kan after riichi, it makes me think the others are sometimes not even trying to play defensively

So i go in and try either to get a lowchance big hand or try to quickly assemble a average hand with nukidora and co. .
Sure i lose many rounds with that but for me it's more of a "turn brain off and relax a bit" gamemode in contrast to 4p

i know what you mean by playing more aggressive, well i tend to do more anyway. like if I am tempai but know that a tile will probably get called i'll just risk it and discard anyways. chin itsu, 4 hidden pons.

>> No.4149248

In Mahjong, you can actually see where people are playing their tiles from, and thus, you can form a psychological advantage. Some players don't even order their tiles right to mess with people's minds. Also, like in poker, you can usually tell how good a person's hand is based on their movements.
