We met using the internet, we only met outside our houses once in a three month long physical relationship.
It consisted entirely of sex, TV and food.

Yeah. If we assume she really is a hikki, _something_ must have made her unfit for society, and if it isn't her looks or her hygiene, it must be something in her brain. I should add in that you can't been NEET and Hikki. Some NEETs actually have friends/go outside or whatever. Do things other than think about suicide/worthlessness/etc.

>Being Hikki automatically means you're NEET as well because shut-in.
Not really. I'm sure there's jobs you can do from home. You can definitely continue your education from home.
Most hikkis probably don't want to interact with anyone outside of the internet, so it makes any job pretty much impossible, even if it's from home, but online classes are probably a different thing, I don't know the details since I've never taken any.

As a hikki I don't even want to interact with anyone on the internet outside of 4chan. Even things like MSN/AIM/IRC are too much for me.

>> No.4132951

>I'm sure there's jobs you can do from home.
Give me an example then. Because MOST jobs would require you to go at least for an interview of some sort, have you work at said place for a little bit, then allow you to work at home. However, I'm not too sure, do people do email interviews now? That just sounds strange to me. Unless you're going to suggest something like making a website and living off ads revenues.

Yeah you can do online education.

You can do freelance programming, contribute articles to some sort of publication (just about anyone can submit something to a newspaper/magazine and if they're interested they'll pay), write books, have some sort of mail-order business run out of your home, act as a freelance consultant, etc.

Yeah I KNOW people have been working as freelancers for whatever.

But we're talking about Hikkis, right? They have SOME sort of crippling mental disability and it comes back to my previous post. >>4132892

If you tell me you're not depressed at all, after saying you're a hikki, I won't believe you at all.

Hell even the online class you would end up taking would be hard if all you can think about is that mistake you did. Then you spiral into depression. What if by chance you fail, even if you studied so hard? Parents going to constantly pay for more of your tuition/loan money? That would weigh heavily on my mind if this were to happen to me.

Writing books okay. But won't you need it published eventually so you can sell it right? I'm not sure how this would work, can this be done all online? Sounds like a lot of money already. If I were in this sort of position I would most likely be leeching off my parents and I would feel terrible already.

I suppose you can do mail order. That seems the less stress related/less burden on others and can eventually pay for living expenses for yourself.

But if you're filthy rich or whatever then yeah.

You know, it sounds to me like you're suffering from a whole range of issues there. Irony of this post notwithstanding, you can't just make sweeping generalizations about everyone. Depression and apathy can come with the extreme social anxiety you describe, but isn't a sure thing. There's likely to be more at work than just a simple fear of failure here.

I currently am engaged in tertiary studies, but if I could survive in the long term by being a shut in I would be tempted to do so. I've certainly spent months in the past being a hikki NEET. I'm fairly confident that I don't suffer from any mental disability or crippling fear of failure. I just am apathetic and like keeping myself submerged in my own world.

If it's not obvious enough, yeah I'm suffering from something I suppose; though I drown it out with stuff I do during the day. Of course there's more than just depression/apathy behind the scene that would affect said individual (family, etc) but I only have my own experience and no one else to use so I have to use 'sweeping generalizations'; though that is a poor way to argue a point, I can't really do anything about that.
