Whatever Tohosim becomes, should it ever actually get completed enough to reach TW's level of 'content', I just hope that it's straightforward to make image changes on it. For eraMegaten at least, there are a whole bunch of characters without a picture (using a generic male/female icon instead) or else the provided picture(s) do not do enough justice (I felt a need to emphasise PSO2 Gene's boobs as her picture icon), and it was just as easy as slapping in a picture file in the resource folder and adding it in via one of the csv files. The only extra step required was to find out the character's unique ID, which can be grabbed via the debug startup tool.

If it's just as easy to do so on Tohosim, then anyone can just replace whatever sprites used for it with whatever they want/prefer.

As far as I understand, the brain shuts down a lot of stuff while you sleep, like body movement so that you don't hurt yourself while dreaming. As it currently stands, unless choosing to do nothing (the 'stop introducing stuff because "(I hate changes)/(doesn't interest me)/(breaks stuff)", there's three ways to 'improve' on TW: more dialogue content (additional or improved), better sex system (minor or major changes), or more non-sex content (Gensokyo life simulator stuff).
The first requires someone to actually write up the dialogue required and have it accepted by the 'community' (or just the TW devs actually pushing/committing changes), while trying to 'improve' on an existing dialogue is probably looked down on, because author feelings unless they disappear for years (even then, someone might not actually pick up on their work - see the many uncompleted EX stuff on eraMegaten). The second one has been discussed quite a fair bit before; some don't want it changed, some want a bit of reverse content (mostly non-anal), some want a rework or porting in K's system. But it all still needs to work in terms of the era slave training system, so even with multiple actors involved, it'll probably end up as a big mess that can happen like in K (it's funny seeing bandits start screwing each other instead of the prisoner in question and get mad) unless everything that occurs during that 'session' is entirely controlled by you alone. As for the third, well. It's a sort of argument seen even in a game like Artificial Academy 2 - it's a porn game, but some people like playing it like a school simulator, with all the sex that may occur as a bonus. Think people who play standard h-games with FeMC where they go for the Pure Virgin route - in TW terms, it's like playing until you can Bite The Dust while having exactly 0 sexual exp on all fronts. It can be argued that playing a porn game while avoiding the porn completely is a incredibly dumb contradiction, but some people just enjoy playing them that way, since the games become significantly 'harder' when you have to do all that. But tldr; not everyone plays porn games just for the porn alone, otherwise it's just a CG hunter game.

There's a little bug on NeoDev with the large breasted pictures.
Reimu's regular summer picture while sleeping shows her without her red ribbon, while the large breasted one is the usual one from when she's awake. To be serious, for me K is best played with all the events and special factions active, regardless of whether you like the NTR/fetish content or not. Especially all the special factions - you can game them to your advantage.

Any character captured by the special factions, except for the Tentacles, will turn up on the Slave Market. If you don't mind them probably 'used' before you get them from there, you could pay cheap for pretty good characters that end up getting caught. If they were from another faction, you can choose to return them to their faction instead, and it'll give you a huge friendship boost (+100 points, offset by Dislike). This can be done for characters from a faction that absolutely hates you as well, so it can be a good way to quickly make friends all around, especially if the special factions were set a bit too strong or got lucky and start spiraling out of control. Sometimes it's more cost-effective than straight out giving money to that faction.

Or well, you can keep them. Especially if that was a strong 2hu from a hostile neighbor.

That said, I prefer AL-K over TohoK. Azur Lane shipgirls are literally drawn to be lewded on most of the time, so it's perfect. And not only that, it has a kind of 'Special (Faction) Diplomacy' system where you can 'research' into the activities of specific special factions and do stuff from it. For example, you could end up establishing a Protectorate out of the Sirens (AL-K's equivalent of the Outsiders), where you end up with a Permanent Alliance with them. Everyone isn't exactly pleased by such a development, of course. You can end up even turning the Tentacles into a puppet faction by researching a way to control them. Co-existence with the special factions, as they rape your enemies for you!

After you do this the Tokyo Metropolitan Office will open up. Not sure if you need to convince both Su'sano and Tsukuyomi to meet Ameterasu instead of defeating one or the other, but when you do this you can get Amterasu's help to access the Basilica via the Neutral Route. The way into the Basilica is via the Ginza Great Underpass dungeon - after getting Ameterasu's assistance she'll give you a mirror you can use to unseal the door at the end of that dungeon to the Basilica, The Basilica will not be unlocked until you do this.

After that, it's just the simple task of beating the shit out of both the Messians and the Gaeans in the Basilica to achieve the Neutral End. I did it with Kikue in the party but unfortunately the event isn't designed for her to comment on it. I was hoping it'd do something for the Yamataika Liberation but the events leading to that ending is still incomplete, I think, since the Yamato Diety Liberation request (No. 13) literally says that it's uncompleted (I have all Extras activated). Unless there is currently a different way to achieve that ending?

I should say 'fight and defeat', instead of 'refusing to work'. You probably need to do this to have it happen. Note that your alignment must be Neutral at the time you meet them. As a bonus, the boss of the other dungeon will actually give you money for defeating the boss of the first dungeon you picked, regardless of whether you plan on beating him up anyway. So it's like he gave you 300k yen to get beaten up.

Oh yeah, when I say 'Neutral' I meant in the 'Law-Chaos' spectrum. You could be N/N or even D/N and still get that end, because the Law-Chaos spectrum is more on whether your thoughts align closer to the Messians or the Gaeans, while the Light-Dark spectrum is more about your 'personality'. The only time where whether you're Light or Dark is probably after you rescue Kikue (so long as she hasn't gone full corrupted), where if you were Dark when you go to the dungeon to meet up with her conspirators, they might not let you help them? Light is required to have (pure or mostly intact) Kikue join you after the rescue.

Note for the Watchtower Assault request if you bring Kikue with you: If you choose to check up on her after beating the hypnosis machine, you'll be presented with three options - first one makes her lose her virginity (regardless of whether (You) actually have a penis or not), but the second option of 'talking her out of it' will initialise her Loyalty to 1000, regardless of where it was before. I have never picked the third option because (intact) Kikue is too cute to punch the shit out of.

tldr; if you are Loyalty grinding Kikue but don't want to make her lose virginity (if she still is) or don't want to hit her, choose anything but checking up on her following the Watchtower Assault to avoid the choices

Not at all, probably is needed if the Yamataika Liberation quests were actually working (completed). You probably don't remember her (or never got her) because even if you save her totally intact, she leaves you if your Light-Dark spectrum is not Light after bringing her to Akasaka.
