Which guide tho? While I followed Itazuraneko, its not bad, I do feel that its not for everybody, and its not a matter of which is right, but fits better to each person.
One doesn't exclude to the other either. And resources are useful for anyone regardless. I've been fishing good links dropped itt here and there, saving on my own bin for reference (and so I don't end up with a fucking mess of tabs in my browser). And I don't why there isn't something like that in OP already.

i just understood a sentence for the first time during immersion practice and i’m over the moon

I haven’t been doing this long (24 days, but I’ve been going ham, about 2-5 hours per day) , and the sentence was very basic, but i lost my shit out of excitement when I realized I knew what this girl said in a podcast. Usually I only pick out random words here and there, but this time I understood a full sentence!

It was:

“バンクーバーに行た”

I do miss kami nomi, anime before was really unique and original with stuff you could have never imagined in the most silly way, maybe that was because i fell in love with it, kami nomi was one of them.
Now is all the same shit with creatively bankrupt ideas, what has come out this year?
Some shit about a spy family, the diarrhea of isekai that is all the same kind of shit with different flavors of shit or that anime lyrical recoil that has a black person for no reason other than to pander americans, which that reference to an old american classic movie confirmed.
Modern anime watchers are fucking malignant cancer

Ok samefag here, but fun story that this brought me memories.
So indeed there are a ton of Nisei here, even though most are in São Paulo, there a few I know on my city.
Several years ago I dated one, very attractive nisei, jap father and huezillian mother, smol, slim with beautiful oppai. Turns out nip+brazillian produces some very top tier off spring, Maria Ozawa I think is half hue as well that comes to mind.
Her father was very restrictive, but growing up in Brazil, specially an urban area, is bound to take you to a more delinquent path. So she was in her twenties already an mother. I met her working on a weird part time, and very suddenly we started sneaking in to building's stair case, I remember having to hide from the "father of her child".
This was one of the best sex I had, and being very young and dumb, also made me head over heels, wanting to take care of her and her child and crap like that. But just as quickly as it flamed, it also quickly vanished, Don't even remember what happened.

Thanks for listening to ted talk, conclusion: oppai nisei are a thing of heaven, but one that you must be careful of.

Playing JP podcasts while commuting and doing activities where you would normally be absent minded/listening to english is definitely beneficial.

Singing also was a massive boosts for me being able to remember but that's a big autistic.

The only other thing to consider if you aren't already doing it is your own Anki decks not just for vocab but for all sorts of language/culture knowledge that you encounter outside of all your other structured lessons, apps etc.

For example one of my first personal Anki cards was the difference between on'yomi and kun'yomi.

All "Core" Anki decks are based on newspapers from early 90s and sometimes additionally sorted in a way that makes learning harder. The cards format also tends to be WCC instead of a more efficient TSC. Ankidrone Starter Pack is made from a COMPLETELY different corpus, everyday words used commonly in Japan. You should use Ankidrone Starter Pack.

the second sentence is not terrible though the fact that you weren't exactly happy about coming home so late is better expressed with a しまいました construction
and you want 時間 instead of 時 for a particular time on the clock
帰宅の時間も23時になってしまいました。
the third sentence is just wrong
it should be 話して欲しい or を話(はなし)して欲しい
however you use ほしい when you want someone else do to something and したい when you want to do something so here it would be

actually, yeah
when you speak with others, are you not conscious about how they react to your words? do you not derive pleasure when they react the way you desire, and get an unpleasant feeling when they don't understand or take things the wrong way?
just look at how scared a lot of people are about talking to girls, or in public, or whatever
is it not because of fear of failure?
that said failure isn't the only thing, success is also rewarded
speak well, get manko, friends, promotions, really anything you desire in this world can be obtained by speech alone (look at the sheer amount of politicians and scammers that do just that)
that said if you have 80% retention, then you are right 8 times for every time you are wrong and you should get little dopamine spikes from that too

bruh.. i used to think like you, but then i realized that it is so wrong.

pre-learning will have you learn random words in a random order. when you're reading what you want, you will only have learned a couple of the words, with many requiring lookups.
if you just start reading and looking up as you go, you are learning the words that you need to learn immediately in the order in which you need to learn them.
words will repeat themselves and it gets easier over time.

it is not possible to learn the reading and meaning of a word in anki. the only way to learn a word is to encounter it in the wild. it does not matter that your example sentence was pulled from the wild. once that example sentence was pasted into anki, it lost the ability to convey meaning by nature of being in anki.

perspective? core decks sound cool in concept but in practice the words you need to know now, you look up, looking them up is essentially mining them (might as well), sp if you are immersing and not whitenoising you are making your own deck already, and all the core words youll see more than enough in short order
decks are like diaries, you can read someone elses but its still not your experience, making the deck is the whole point

it works if you use it right. it doesn't work if you are the carpenter with a hammer to whom everything looks like a nail
the point of anki is not forgetting the runes and their combinations, that's it.
nips normally forget the runes and japanese has a ridiculous attrition rate for forgetting said runes
if you are listening/conversing/reading really simple stuff in just kana, and things like that, it does nothing
also if it makes you miserable theres no point in forcing yourself to do it
