Do nothing leads to Simon getting killed which allows Kamina to somehow find his way to the valley where the princesses are dumped. He finds and rescues Nia, taking her under his wing. She ends up calling him "Aniki" and takes over in piloting Lagann.

Fast forward to the battle at Teppelin, Genome and Kamina have an epic manly face off after leaving their respective Ganmens. Kamina is saved when he picks up the core drill Nia dropped and defeats Genome.

After reuniting with the Gurren Brigade at the crack of dawn, Kamina looks at the core drill he holds and thinks to himself, "You saved me again, Simon."
