Where did this Kojima hate-boner come from out of the woodworks? Kojima has helped direct and worked on classic games and even worked on MGSV which is a great game gameplay-wise. If you want to make it a fair comparison comparing his adventure games would be more fair so Snatcher and Policenauts vs Nasu's VN's. I'd say Nasu takes it since the stories there aren't as emotionally effective for me. I do love the aesthetic and music in those games so it's close there.

Something that I am missing from MBAACC, is the two different Arc-drives, one with heat and another stronger one with blood heat. It is something simple, but it gave a bit more edge to the game. But I already moved to Lumina, I am anxious for this new update, since I am a button smasher, and because of this, the autocombo was a problem to my gameplay "style".

Seems that way. Nanaya is described as a rare human specialized in killing. It's probably genetic and Karma oriented since KT mentioned how a child is similar to a clone of oneself and Kiri wanted to give Shiki a chance at choosing a different path. Yet Shiki has a pure heart that hates killing more than anyone despite being the most skilled at it. That's the beauty and tragedy of it. This is why Shiki views Nanaya as the harbinger of Tohno Shiki's destruction.
But it's that same part of him that lets him save those he loves. He willingly becomes a monster rather than see them get hurt. Post Tsukihime Shiki is probably something mixed or more accepting of this side of himself.

First of all, you get the SFX of him banging it - in the original it's just "this chair" repeated until Hisui stops him, and the realization that he's been smashing it and not just staring at it only hits for both the player and Shiki when Hisui tells him. In the remake the player knows instantly, completely takes you out of the schizo.
Second, the repetition itself was amazing and part of why I loved what OG did with the text - you naturally start clicking faster and faster as more and more and more of it keeps appearing endlessly. By the time it's over you just smash that LMB exactly like Shiki is smashing that chair. It's great. Remake removed this entirely, it's just a dude smashing a chair on the floor now, no atmosphere no immersion. Bah.

Nah, I can appreciate the good parts, it's just that it's not a clear upgrade. The additional scenes were definitely an improvement. Voices are a mixed bag - they do have to compete with imagination in terms of line delivery. Not a big fan of Hisui and Arihiko but Akiha and Sacchan are perfect, initially wasn't sure about Shiki but he grew on me, rest was good.

Ciel is very easy to fuck up so I dunno - I suppose even if the schizo is worse, if all the kino fights are improved it might even itself out. Still, at that point it's entirely different and replacing schizo atmosphere with great fights is a downgrade, since good fights aren't that unique and there's nothing quite like the OG in terms of denpa.

I read both the og and remake in jap and while It's been a long time since I read the og, I don't think there was that much difference in the text placement you speak about. I even think remake got it better in the later parts of the ciel routes with roa's transfer. And the remake didn't remove onomatopoeias so no idea what was that about.

I got so used to reading VNs with heavy kanji it always slows me down whenever I see sentences written in hiragana and katakana. Kek, it really is true that you'll realize at one point that kanji isn't the hardest, but hiragana/kana. Mostly kana. Especially when the writer goes full chuuni and tries to use kana to explain its equivalent name in another language. Fuck that.

While I can understand wanting to click through This Chair a few dozen more times, I don't see how you can say the scene has no atmosphere. Improved writing, detached voice leaks out during the scene indicating how out of it he is, ominous music shift and cracking sounds for mental transition, heart beats, heart monitor effect for Roa possession implications and the tunnel visioning going on+static/hazy image effects. It's less subdued though like other anon pointed out it was kinda apparent what was happening. I understand liking that though but I don't think it's necessarily better and as the OG still exists(And is kino) I think it's fine they made this its own.
Overall I'd say the atmosphere was improved desu. The sfx of the chair being destroyed was nice to me. It really drove home how violent and erratic he suddenly is. Shiki's VA is very good too so he sold how unaware and shocked he himself is when he snaps out of it all out of breath. And most importantly how strongly it comes across that it's someone else in the driver seat.

And I would say Tsukihime is Nasu’s easiest work and what mostly makes it hard are the lore references (Vampire, Church, Magic stuff and all that), so yes. I perceived it as a reference to Arcueid’s route. Because Roa serves as an anti-thesis to Shiki. Similar to Roa, Shiki fell in love with Arc but was in denial about it due to their differences and he tried to convince himself that there’s no way he’d fall for someone that isn’t human. In Roa’s case, he denied it because he thought he was incapable of having such feelings so he thought what he felt for her was hatred. Unlike Roa though, Shiki ended up acknowledging his feelings for her as love and attraction. There’s also their eyes working on a different wavelength.

Another tidbit I’ll add is Roa never getting close to the “Eternity” on his own. Someone posted Luminous Arc’s profile here from the new Tsuki book and there’s an information that says that if it perceives someone as its enemy, they’ll never get close to it so it would normally look scary from afar. But those who are considered as allies can get near to it and those who can get a glimpse of it at close proximity will perceive it as beautiful. As Ciel’s route states, Arc never once saw Shiki as an enemy despite her anger towards him and probably this shows that she willingly let him get near her, as she also once stated that she wanted Shiki to be the one to put an end to her rampage. Roa only ever got to see what she’s like through the eyes of Shiki and never his own. Unlike him, Roa was never fully able to understand Arcueid like how he wanted it to be. I guess because of that Roa finds it disappointing that Shiki couldn’t become his enemy because he saw him as his complete opposite despite sharing some similarities, because at that point, Shiki does not have the drive to kill him or see him as an enemy like in Arc’s route.

If Nasu is trying to expand Arc True with it, it could be genuinely a good showdown, with Roa regaining some sense of his past self and recognizing what makes them different.

Nasu: At the very beginning of her creation, I started with the concept of a girl who was able to be relentlessly hard on herself for any mistakes or failures. She was going to be someone who could go into a rage, but in a way that left you feeling good about it. To top it all off, she had to be pretty.

Nasu; Among the human characters, she's probably one of the most complete and well put-together specimens of mankind. That's why Shirou will never turn into Archer as long as he is living alongside Rin.
Takeuchi: I know it's kind of out of the blue, but I feel like I'm only now appreciating how amazing Rin really is.
Nasu: That's right, you mentioned that you're going through some kind of Rin phase lately...
Takeuchi: Yeah, I guess you could say that. (laughs)
Nasu: I will say that Rin was my favourite character when I was writing the story. Rin is like Aoko in so many aspects that it felt good to write Rin's story. Of course, Rider showed up shortly after that and everything went to hell. With regard to Saber, writing her story was always nerve-wracking because I knew she was really important to Takeuchi. I had a similar experience writing Hisui in "Tsukihime". Whenever an artist gets attached to a specific character, it's really stressful for me to write that character's portion of the overall story. I guess the added stress comes from the feeling that the character no longer belongs to just me, and that I need to meet someone's high expectations as I flesh them out. I noticed I was constantly pushing myself to do "better" while I was writing Saber's story. In contrast, I felt so much freedom when writing Rin's story, and maybe that's why it felt extra nice.
Takeuchi: I think Rin is a character who is all about potential. Maybe that's why I'm only truly appreciating her now. Saber felt so complete right from the start, and the poetic beauty of her pairing with Shirou only added to the perfection. In Rin's case, however, a lot of events and situations like that whole London deal kept bringing out new sides of her that we hadn't previously seen. She makes you think about what "potential" really means, in a variety of ways. For example, if we were to do a spin-off story for Saber that took place in the Knights of the Round Table era, we still wouldn't be able to disband or do without the pairing of Saber and Shirou. Takeuchi: I wanted to design a character with really sharp-angled eyes, so I focused on that when I was doing the rough sketches, but as the design came along her eyes got rounder and rounder. Drawing a character with two ponytails was also something I wanted to do. By the way, there was another character that filled a role similar to Rin's wasn't there?
Nasu: Yes, the heroine with glasses from old "Fate" named Ayaka Sajyou had a rival character who was a total rich-kid, spoiled heiress type. She would look down on you and laugh at you, like Luvia. Her Servant was the Lancer. You could say that she was the basis for Rin's character. When Shirou snagged the main character position for "stay night", it was this character who transformed into Rin to fill the rival role. We wanted Shirou's rival to be more likable than the snobby heiress, though, so we took inspiration from Aoko Aozaki, a character Takeuchi and I both like. Azaka, Akiha, and Rin are all Aoko-type characters, but I'd say Rin is the most like Aoko. I really didn't feel like making "Witch on the Holy Night" when we were working on "stay night", so I made the executive decision to create a feminine Aoko. Though I suppose she turned out to be more of a clumsy Aoko than a feminine Aoko... Takeuchi seemed to intuitively understand what I was going for, and his "Fate version Aoko" meshed well with my vision for Rin.
Takeuchi: I guess we both wanted the same thing for that character.
Nasu: I was recently chatting with Aruko Wada, an artist for "Fate/Extra", and I asked her what it was like to draw Rin. The instant response I got was that Rin's design was so complete and well put together that there was little to no room for adjustments. Apparently, this made drawing Rin a much more straightforward affair than drawing Saber. Aruko also mentioned that attempting to add things or otherwise alter Rin's look proved difficult.
Takeuchi: I guess we did so well with keeping Rin simple yet infusing her with strong trademark qualities that it's hard to make changes without eliminating that "Rin factor". While designing Rin, I was aiming for a sort of perfection, something that would make her seem unapproachable. I knew the stronger she seemed on the outside, the more of a contrast it would provide for the vulnerabilities she hid inside, and that would make her all the more appealing as a character.
Nasu: Giving her twin ponytails kind of takes the honour student edge off of her and gives her a touch of the rich heiress feel, which actually makes her a tad bit more approachable. Putting that hairstyle on a strict ladybug-type character helps to give the impression that she has an extroverted personality.
Takeuchi: Well, the twin ponytails are there mostly because they are symbolic of the "tsundere" type of personality.
