No, it's shit. All "Core" Anki decks are based on newspapers from early 90s and sometimes additionally sorted in a way that makes learning harder. I guess I will chalk it up to different ways of being raised/educated, but I don't understand how people shun writing so much nowadays. Letting cursive (in the US) go is one thing which I have no personal qualms with, but completely not writing at all even if one has literal doctor handwriting, is completely foreign to me. But I was taught to write things down if I forget often as a way to have that connection in my brain. I write notes when out and about, carry a journal and practice writing kanji I encounter because I both like writing in general, but I know that writing will reinforce my retention more than just looking at it. I usually, while doing reps, practice writing the kanji and type it and only the reading, so that later I can just scan through visually and just think about what each means. idk, we are all wired differently but i challenge anyone to find ways to help them and i personally attest for writing even in non-language studies
