I think, as of the latest chapter, Reimu did more investigating in that chapter of FS where she dressed in her detective outfit than Satori has done in the entirety of CDS. When she actually encountered Mizuchi, she immediately got possessed and knocked out, and realised that she can't actually handle reading a vengeful spirit's mind (keep in mind that this ability was essentially the only thing she kept stating made her the perfect foil for Mizuchi)
She gets tired too easily and can't handle doing much actual investigating because she'll collapse, and she can't even read too many minds without getting sick
This manga should have spent the first twenty or so chapters in former hell having Satori build up her reputation solving smaller cases before starting this Mizuchi arc, but here we are with a laughing stock of a detective as our protagonist (might as well be former protagonist, because Mizuchi is basically the new protagonist)

I actually really liked that part. Gives her (and by proxy Koishi) a lot more depth and is nice humanising detail. Showing that Youkai actually have weaknesses that can hinder their daily lives is neat.

But i wish she was more involved. Rather than as a mind reader she should be expert on vengeful spirits and be the one who actually gathers the clues and figures who Mizuchi is and why she is doing whatever she is doing.

a video game starring Marisa and a manga starring Satori, it seems as if ZUN finally decided to give the fans what they want. even in Satori's manga there are a lot of classic characters like Alice and Hina.

Something like that would better fit the release schedule too, since ZUN could write it similar to his other works with one chapter setting up a problem and the next one the answer. Having a mystery adventure sort of story with slow burn pacing is painful.

Alice's case bothers me a lot, she went from being such an important character as Yukari to just being a background character. In th5. th7, th7.5, th8, th10.5, th12 and th12.3 she was one of the main characters, being playable in th8 and early fighting games. why did ZUN just decide to forget about her? the other th8 characters like Yukari or Yuyuko show up a lot and do things, but Alice when she shows up is just an irrelevant cameo.

Satori is my favourite character but she's quite the jobber, but well that's her character at the end of the day.

Maybe because her role in the game/manga is as relevant as someone like Patchouli who literally just hole themselves in their home? Yukari is one of the sage and is actually active unlike Okina, and Yuyuko is in charge of the netherworld so she'll easily appear if a chapter involving the netherworld happens. Plus Yuyuko is quite active too often going outside her realm with Youmu. Alice probably aren't even that powerful, and probably aren't as knowledgeable as someone like Patchouli so maybe ZUN dont really have any use of her in stories nowadays.

His treatment of both Alice and Yuuka is just...odd. They are both characters with huge following and undying popularity even after years. Very iconic too. And yet he outright refuses to do anything with them.
I get it that he may want to push some new characters, but in the end he keeps reusing mamizou/suika/aya trio for almost everything, so its not like he couldnt find a spot here and there for those two.

Those three are influential asf on top of being really strong, meanwhile Yuuka and Alice probably hardly gets out from their territory. I mean yeah Yuuka sometimes goes out to buy groceries but she probably doesnt care enough to either cause incidents or to socialize. Even in her role in PoFV she simply annoys Reimu, and the others who does met her because they accidentally waltzed into her flower garden

I think you're vastly overstating Alice's importance here.
Her recurring inclusion in the early games probably had more to do with there only being two games to pull characters from, rather than ZUN being particularly fond of Alice.
She's also canonically a loner and doesn't have any real connections to anyone other than Marisa, who, as a main character, has a very bloated list of associates already. She is not part of a larger group or species like Yuyuko or Nitori, nor does she hold any influence within Gensokyo. It's just generally hard to involve her organically.
Obviously, her character could be developed to a point where she's have reasons to involve herself in the plot, but since this franchise is allergic to actual character arcs, that simply won't happen.

Okina may not have done much until Hidden Star in Four Seasons, but she's certainly been making up for lost time since then, and by now is probably more involved overall than Yukari's been despite the latter being around for so much longer. Okina tends to drive the plots, too, while Yukari is generally much more reactionary, which makes Okina look even more influential.
If anything, it feels like ZUN just doesn't care about Yukari any more.

I probably worded that poorly, but its not that she is hands off about Gensokyo because she is irresponsible, but because she doesnt need to, most of the time Yukari and Reimu are more than enough. The two times she did intervene was when some very powerful opponents was the culprit.

I think you've lost me there. Since the topic was about how Alice is barely relevant to anything and thus doesn't appear much, while characters like Yukari are written as characters who'd obviously be much more involved in things, Okina would certainly be included with Yukari, given how involved she's been since TH16.
Okina purposely involves herself in numerous incidents these days, causing half of them or getting herself involved for her own betterment, or just to flex on people. She's not hands-off in the slightest. I think it's mostly just a weakness of the writing that Okina apparently did jack shit before the four seasons incident when she's so active now. It's hardly befitting of a "secret god" to show up everywhere all the time.
