40592287 No.40592287 [Reply] [Original]

I saved all my cute anime girl images in one folder. This was alright until I realized I amassed over one thousand of them. Now I am trying to organize them by series then by character. I have currently written a simple notebook document with Python code that will help me manually sort these images. I tell it where all my images are, then it displays one image at a time, then I tell it which subdirectory to move that image to. While it works it will still take a while to sort through thousands of images, and I am manually typing each subdirectory by hand.

Are there other programs out there that can help with this task? I know I'm not the only person who saves images I find nice.

I need to sort my images. I'll probably just do it by hand. Shouldn't be difficult. I don't really save much off imageboards, mostly boorus.

Apparently Hydrus, but it's a pain of the ass to setup so I never got it working. Hashes can suck my cock.

I don't know much about coding, but maybe you could set something up where it checks an image on danbooru and other such sites and you automatically place the character in the folder? Any character not recognized could go into a miscellaneous folder that you would then manually set organize yourself.

Took me a bit over two and a half hours with my method. I'm pretty sure typing the same subdirectory name again and again accounted for 70% of the time. I went into this method thinking I'll just make the folders as I go along because I don't know who or from what series these all these images are from but that screwed me over in the long run. It was a good exercise in typing, at least, and relaxing in a way.
In hindsight I should've probably done this with HTML/CSS+Javascript, which can save me lots of time with selecting where to put an image. Can also put in a hyperlink to reverse-image-search through saucenao.
>>40592346
My main issue with doing it by hand was that if I accidentally click somewhere else while selecting a bulk of images, it deselects everything, and I can't just ctrl+z to get the selection back. I think it'll be much much faster otherwise than what I just did, but it'll still be a chore to do it with over 1000 images.
>>40592835
>Hydrus
I'll look into that, thank you.
>>40592886
That sounds like lots of trouble for a short-term task, but good idea. iirc a sizable chunk of these images are from twitter, downloaded there from the time they're not in the boorus yet. I also got some images that wasn't in the boorus while sourcing it, but was in pixiv or twitter.

Seconding hydrus. I am an autistic nerd so the interface pleases me, this may not be the case for everyone. There is a learning curve. Once you get trucking it can do pretty much anything. You can easily back up entire booru tags with a few clicks.

I separated my girls in 2 separate folders, one where they're all sorted manually using filenames where first comes the name of the girl, and second something characteristic about the image. The other is the "waiting to be sorted" folder, where I just throw in any cute girls I download and rename them later
It's very time consuming and I've grown lazy to go about renaming hundreds at a time just like I did when I first started, especially now that there's thousands of unnamed cute girls on the unsorted folder, it feels like unless I sit down for 30 minutes on my keyboard to rename everything, I don't get anywhere
Besides that, I at least think it's rewarding at the end. I can go into a single folder and type a girl's name for random images of a character, or type in something characteristic of an image I want and have very specific images.
I've tried Hydrus before but I didn't quite figure out what it did, or how it was going to do it, but everyone I talk to who also hoards cute anime girls in their computers recommends it

Also another thing, I have to rely on 4chanX's filename randomizer because of my method, so that's another downside

I might just be paranoid but anons recognizing my filenames is just another angle to recognizing me in some way, post enough and I'd be easily found by the filenames, then you can just stare at how I use punctuation and how I format my posts to be able to identify any post of mine at a simple glance
Like I said, probably paranoid but having 4chanX make all of what I post look generic keeps me sane

I have a very organized art folder.
Everything is sorted by series, characters, ships, sub folders inside the character folder for nsfw, clothing (hoodie, dress, casual), sometimes by quality.
For example inside my Momiji folder I have a folder called "distasteful".
Hentai folders are sorted by tags, (lactation, long hair, big breasts, flat etc)
Im rather proud of it all.

>> No.40619613

I have a similar problem, OP.

Right now I have a collection of around 15K pics on Google Photos account with barely any sort of organizing. I used GP because I only had one laptop and didn’t want them coming up at school. It was fine when I started out but now its a nightmare to find things or even remember if I’d saved it before. Now I want to transfer them to my new computer, but with so many pics its going to be a pain.

Then I found out about Hydrus and it seems like a godsend, though I’ve never used it. Has anyone had experience with it? Does it live up to its description?

Tags in Windows only work if the filetype allows EXIF data, such as JPG. But many of my images are PNG, so they can’t be tagged. Even if you rename the file extension, you arent changing the actual file data; you have to resave the image. The only semi-convenient way I’ve found of doing this is pasting the pic into an image editor and then saving it. Also, only PNG supports transparency, so converting to JPG would ruin things like cutout images.
