I'm going to guess that it was an oversight in updating whatever system is used to make the decompiled code human-readable. A new "any blanket" item category was added in 2.13 (used by the starfiber recipe), so the total number of item categories increased by 1, but the system still replaced "9028" with "MAX_RF". But MAX_RF is now 9029, which is invalid and crashes the game.

The problem with the class bloat is older or OG classes have fewer feats and some are pretty redundant.
I think the classs bloat is mainly there to make use of various conditional feats like hero, fencer, battle dancer, berserk, etc and also custom spact like enchant elementals and summon ghosts, or the other way around, but, i dunno, I just got it recently since I wanna go back playing elona.

I never sell potions/scrolls, doesn't feel worth it. I just split them in two stacks, important and junk, one storage house for each pair.

The last time I played Elona Plus was 1.95, where the ultimate build was Martial Artist due to how the modifiers worked, followed closely by magic and then multi-armed melee. Pet ('summoner') builds either worked or didn't depending on how you focused them. Has anything changed since then?

In the change logs from 1.95 up to current I see stuff like 'training days' and a whole bunch of changes to how magic works. I've always been a fan of the 'Pet Army Witch' build as I like to call it, where I focus on magic while building a pet army; how much has this sort of play changed since 1.95?

Some starts with much better feats and some are lacking.
Spell blade starts with level 3 mastery on short sword and long sword, spell potential 1, and fencer 1 while warmage starts with only level 1 on ss and ls, and spell potential 1. Both have elemental enchant.
Samurai starts with level 4 mastery on both long sword and short sword, guts 1, and tactic potential 2.
Pirate only have mastery of longsword 1, short sword 2, and axe 2.

It's there but, starting with more feats unlocked simply nicer than having less. As example, look at samurai, you can put one point in short sword and long sword and you have level 5 mastery and still have one left.
Not that it matters much if you're a casual like me, you can pick whichever you want and you can grind out somehow. It just feels redundant when you have similar but skewed classes.

Keep all of them. All potions and scrolls have a use great or small. Even Name scrolls can be used for the powerful Burn Scroll spact. Even the low-grade healing potions can be used to heal status effects on you and/or your pets. The blind/sleep/confuse/paralyze potions can lock down entire screens of mobs if used with Liquid Manipulation, and poisons and acids can be used to kill bells and quicklings. And you may want to curse alcohol or milk to throw at enemies, of flying scrolls to increase the weight of gear, so keep those scrolls of curse.

If you use pets and like giving them things like those potiomans and bazookas (panzerfaust and such), they have a 50% chance of choosing to use those instead and will also reload when the charges run out (using your supply of potion plugs and draw charges). Especially with the potiomans, this can be a very useful way of getting your traditionally mostly melee only AI pets like Little Girl to attack from range and actually get kills. This potioman uasge behaviour seems to eventually 'break' and they stop shooting/reloading them even if you have potion plugs until you take them out from their inventory to manually reload for them, though.

There's also those spiritium items that seem to always pop out from those 'lockpick training' chests that the shops sell, which are mostly flavour but provide a tiny amount of gauge at the start of a battle. But the main thing is that the spiritiums are worth at least 1k with level 0 Negotiation - not sure if this was intended but due to this you can generate a pretty good amount of gold at the start of a game by grabbing Lockpicking ASAP (if you didn't start out with it) and opening those chests.

The last but most important thing is if you're a Jure Fanatic (which you may or may not see it as a good thing anyway), which is that Jure no longer accepts stones as offerings. Instead, she now accepts Wild Flowers instead (which give about 25 Favor each). But due to this change they upped the rate in which they appear in the field (still max of 2 if they do show up), so even if you're not collecting flowers to offer to Jure, you could give them to your pets instead for them to sell to use as potential money. Or maybe you like eating flowers. Or just selling them to other Jure Fanatics.

On Plus, usually I like to take my time running around North Tyris, but should I actually be rushing for South Tyris as soon as possible?

I usually take my time to set up a shop or two, maybe two ranches as well if I'm looking to breed farm something other than rabbits for rabbit tails, a farm and get the Palace. Then I do up the Palace with NPCs and all and by then I've probably summoned one or two gods into my home, so in-game years wise it's probably 3-5 years of pure grinding in North Tyris.

Other than that, are you playing solo or with pets? In Plus, pet play can be really strong and can help a lot - with just 10 Faith you can already start with the Preaching wide action skill, which uses Faith and Will to do something similar to Performer, or else you can put level up points into Performer to 30 so that you can gain the Ensemble wide action skill. Ensemble is pretty much just like using an instrument, except it can be used anywhere without an instrument and also adds the Performer skill level of all your pets currently in your party to your Performer skill level. Also trains your pet's Performer level and gives Charisma exp to your pets. Having Ensemble with just 3-4 pets with Performer (gene engineer via Derphy Slave Master if they don't) will guarantee that no one will ever throw rocks at you again.

Pets can also help you when you go to sleep, if they like you enough (usually from Fellow upwards) - if you time it so that you sleep somewhere between 8pm - 11pm (9pm or 10pm to be 'safe'), you will wake up somewhere between 5am - 9am. If you wake up between this time and have pets at Fellow and above, they will cook breakfast for you that raises all potentials for you and your pets involved depending on the 'quality' of the food they cooked (also trains their Cooking). If they know crafting skills like Tailoring, they will also produce a guaranteed blessed Miracle/Godly tier piece of equipment out of thin air for you. You can do whatever you want with them, such as selling them in a shop you own. Also saves a lot of money on buying certain types of equipment if you're 'lucky' and something amazing pops out (based on the pets' crafting skills). Both the breakfast and equipment produced skill levels is based on the total of all pets with those skills (with some recent E+ version changes even those with Sleep Blankets 'help out' and thus gets Cooking/crafting skill exp), so if you run massive pet armies you can end up with some amazing stuff.

If having too many pets running around annoys you, remember that you can always Tag Organisation them, so that 2 pets only occupy one tile (while also being able to 'cover' (take the hit) for each other if Pet A is low HP but Pet B is high HP). Tag Organisation is also amazing if you have certain fast pets (e.g. quicklings/younger cat/fox sisters) with slow moving but explodes stuff nearby if they can get near them kind of character, because the pet on the 'left' side (Pet A) determines how the Tag Organisation will move. Of course, you can also pair up a melee with a wizard if you want but then the melee would be bringing the wizard to melee range constantly (or vice versa), so best to pair up those with similar combat AI.
You can also use Tag Organisation on yourself while mounted, so you can end up with 3 characters on the same tile. But I generally avoid this because it makes your movement a bit 'weird' unless you change some settings.

Magic dart series and lightning spells when wet are the best attack spells. Aside from that, I mostly use support spells to buff myself or teleport to get away from tough enemy asap.

I assume you're playing plus. Meteor is the best attack spell, but not reallyspammable. Resistance debuff spells are a must have, I'd recommend picking one damage type and sticking with a debuff spell only fort it. "Magic" spells are really good at the start because magic resistance is pretty rare, but later on they get sidelined by the elemental ones later on because of the Itzpalt elemental buff, status effect multipliers and the new "combine magic damage type" enhancements Plus has. Of those Lightning spelis are pretty good when attacking wet enemies + they stun, but they too get sidelined by the Fire/iIe spells later on. The king is Fireball(Called Burning Storm now) when you get high Fire+Ice combined enhancements. 100% Fire damage +150% Ice Damage and that's even without wet/oil multipliers.

It combines mind + sound spells allow your Mind Thorns to hit harder and inflict Confuse + Dim, which does a good job of shutting down enemies. They can be fused onto your equipment via Artifact Fusion. If you manage to get the Group Hypnosis spact (get the Hypotize feat) you can do Sleep + Nightmare to every hostile on the screen.

Pets, if you are playing a variant that has Custom AI, can be taught Mind Thorn and be ordered to spam it while wearing combines mind + sound spells gear to make said spells hit really hard.

Other than that? Hydro Bolt is where it's at for any tough beefy foe such as most bosses. It'll eventually Guard Break the enemy, then do full damage due to Hydro Bolt being the PV/DV element. It's also a good spell to teach your pets as well, but you'll want a means to get them to cast Hydro Bolt only when you want them to - try setting up their AI so they need an easily bestowed buff as one of the conditions.

Fill all your free pet slots with geese.
Get one from the god and breed it, if it spawns something other than goose kill it and wait again (it takes forever to spawn a third creature so make sure to kill). If you didn't kill Zeome you can use that too for breeding.
I had mine at my house, the coins recharge after every sleep and you can rack up a fair amount just doing fishing/whatever to pass the time. They eat just about anything cooked, egg meals of any rank were good enough for me.
I pretty much never did any quests after I got my 7 geese.

Because giving her potions after the 'vanilla end' of the quest gives you 20 karma per hand in until she tells you to stop, people often use that more of a 'I have to get 20 karma fast' option. Going for full elemental damage is the best option, assuming you want to kill enemies with the weapon instead of just getting boosts from having it equipped. Magic damage is the most straightforward since it gets resisted less than everything else. the wiki is helpful for making your starting character choices
there is a certain way to handle the tutorial, and it is not implicitly trusting the elf guy. I can't go into specifics because spoilers, and I don't exactly remember all the optimal steps either.
always pick the girl starter ally option, they can have their own gear just like you and you can make them into a powerful party member.
alternatively just mess around with it a bit and do what you want and maybe start again when you get the basics

there is an early game progression that you can follow through the main quest too but the game is also pretty open to do as you want.

beware of eatherwind, treat it like magic radiation cause im pretty sure it might be.

Reincarnate when you get bored or feel your current playstyle isn't gonna get you very far. Everything that isn't a precious item (like static artifacts and certain potions) will be transferred into the heir trunk, which you can use by reading deeds of heirship. Your pets' inventories won't be transferred, so take anything you want from them before incarnating.
You can inherit a filled monster ball to have an even easier start.
You'll also get a fraction of the materials you have right now.
You can inherit shift cores but they'll have a cooldown equivalent to the in-game time passed with your current character. Pro-tip: go to the deep sea castle to reset cooldown times, though it's in act 2.
