Sorry if this question is stupid/redundant

If I practice learning every single day, for a good portion of time, would I be able to read light novels and visual novels by around 6 months? Its not my ultimate goal but it would be a good checkpoint i think

Just a heads up, ive attempted to learn Japanese about 6 times now. And what ive learned is that i spent sooooo much time trying one thing or another from apps, to text books, to games, to flash cards paying x, y or z.

Honestly if i spent all that time studying, i probably would have my jlpt n5 right now. Instead? I just learned the same thing, the same, hello, goodbye and nice to meet you from 10 different resources XD. At the end, you'll really learn the most once you stick to something and keep it a habit.

Just my 2 cents as someone who has made my own mistakes, but I recommend typing Japanese in Japanese as soon as possible. It's really not too hard once you get used to the input method. All I have to do to quickly switch to Japanese is hit Alt + `. Then I type like you did above and hit enter to confirm the kana.

Doing this will help you avoid spelling mistakes becoming ingrained in your learning. Currently both words you typed are spelled incorrectly and would not show up correctly in kana. そうか、ありがとう would be souka, arigatou.

It may seem like a small thing, but it adds up because not only will you spell kana only words like these incorrectly, you will have trouble finding the right input to bring up the kanji for words you want as well. For example, you need to type しゅうしょく to get 就職 to display, but しゅうしょう will not pull up 首相 because the correct spelling is しゅしょう. Typing in Japanese, you notice more quickly when you're spelling a word wrong because it won't pull up the kanji you want.
