Fumos arrived! Anyone else notice the larger production quantities have come at the cost of quality? A number of them have loose threads (particularly in their mouths) and Kasen's eyes look way too close together....

The whole point of 1.5s was to lower the manufacturing cost and increase mass production, sacrificing quality was an obvious trade off.

Except 1.5s in general have existed since LONG before the fumo craze happened and are no less detailed in design. They're actually slightly bigger/heavier and use more fabric (more material = more cost). This slide in quality also doesn't affect 1.5s made in earlier years before things got insane, even as early as last year the entire line has been very premium in workmanship save for maybe overstuffing them (which again, actually costs Gift money). Not to say that this 2022 run is poorly made in general, just the QC seems a bit more lax.

Pretty sure the real reason 1.5s exist is to modernize the looks of older characters to keep the fumo line's appearances looking more uniform since older fumos (faces in particular) had a lot more variance in design and stick out like a sore thumb beside more modern releases with their uniform style. See picture: V1 Cirno sticks out beside the rest of these more modern releases with her taller, sharper bottom-curve eyes and smaller, cut-off white circle. The irony here is probably the most poorly made fumo I own is my V1 Flan.

Unless you have a source to back that claim up I'm pretty sure these are two completely separate issues.

This is correct. If you have a 1.5 made before the August 21 order you'll see they're of the exact same quality as their V1 counterparts. That August 21 sale is where the over-stuffing issue mostly occurred, although it seems like that issue has persisted. Anyone with a soft from this most recent sale want to confirm if the stuffing issue is still present?

hello to all of you anons who bought fumo(s) with amiami! I have questions regarding the shipping prices. How much is shipping for just 1 fumo, and is that shipping the same as what carrier will be delivering their package to you (DHL, EMS, SAL, etc.)or is it a separate fee?

It is entirely dependent on where you live and what carrier you chose. I paid around 7k yen for DHL for 2 fumos and I live in the Midwest. All major shipping carriers have risen their rates. It will probably be less for a single fumo. EMS was like 5k yen, but I chose DHL because for around 1.5k more yen or so getting them in 1-5 days was way faster than 4-13 via EMS. They even came 2 days early. As for your last question, it's kind of confusing. Amiami decides the box size for how many fumos you order. The box for 2 fumos was really big and didn't need to be. The shipping carriers each have their own way of determining cost depending on the weight of the items in the package, the size and the volume of said box. The shipping is one fee for international shipping.

I remember back when I bought my first fumo in 2012, 1 AUD was at near parity with 100 JPY, and we didn't have to pay the Gerry Harvey racket for imports. What's even crazier was that each fumo was only 2,800-ish yen, and EMS shipping to Australia was barely 1,500 yen.
