i have started learning on and off 2 years ago with different apps(human japanese, pimsleur, kanjii, duolingo,) and watching free lessons on youtube. now that i’m looking to get more serious about it, i find that nothing seems to be of an appropriate level for me. either i have skipped learning the basics for x thing and don’t understand what the lesson is talking about or i just already know what is there and am tired of re-learning about the same stuff again and again. anyone in the same boat?

I know the kana (weak in katakana tho) and some vocabs with some kanji, I'm using Anki, kanji study, Duolingo and some other random resources.

I think it would be great for us to study in small groups over chat and share our resources and what we learnt, and I think it could be very motivating for me to learn for a consistent long time (since I have ADHD it's very difficult for me to do that without constant motivation) and I think it would be for sure amazing to make some more international friends.

It would really help us all very much to study together where we are all the same level, maybe one a little higher level to help the beginners if we don't know something.

3-6 people are enough, and I'm available on WhatsApp, Discord, Instagram and messenger (not preferable tho).

I'm attempting to read light novels, and some of the kanji have furigana but not all. They're paperback which means using my phone camera to push it through Google translate. It's slow. Hoping that I can cram some of the more basic kanji compounds to help increase my reading speed. I usually know the kanji meaning when I see the word, but not the pronunciation. Alternatively, is core 2000 sortable by frequency? Is that the default order? I feel like the word order is way out of wack and I forget words because they're not in the books I'm reading. Yeah they can be dropped at a certain point, learning individual kanji with keywords is really just meant to be a bridge, once you know enough words looking at kanji becomes similar to looking at someone's face, you just kinda get the whole word without really focusing on any single part.

I've been to enough of these threads and read the guides enough times to know what needs to be done. But I just can't get past the hurdle of how much time it would take. It's hard to imagine studying something for let's say 2 years and still not being able to just fucking read something without needing to look stuff up.
How do you guys do it without giving up? I can't fathom how long it takes to get to any semblance of full fluency.
