That's because not everyone's body is the same.
It also depends a lot on how hard you're going or how long you're playing.
If you're playing fairly casually then every day is fine.
If you're going hard and playing long sessions then you're going to burn out and potentially hurt yourself if you try playing like that every day.

I decided to try out SDVX Konaste basic course after only having played USC with official converts. The game takes forever to boot up compared to USC and the load times between songs is longer too. I'm missing a ton of songs, some have to be unlocked through some grind system, some have to be bought through song packs (seems like there's tens of thousands on yen worth) and some songs like anime and vocaloid songs are apparently not available at all. There's no practice mode from what I can tell and there seems to be less customization in general. There's a fucking daily two hour maintenance that happens to fall between 10pm and 12pm CET, some of my most common hours to play, which prevents you from starting the game though at least the game doesn't seem to kick me out if I already have it running before the maintenance starts. I guess it's a bit flashier than USC and I get to see an anime girl of my choice pop up after every song. My stupid ass really just paid money to play a game that's worse optimized and has less content and features compared to a game I've already been playing for free.

>can one optimize their playtime for progression?
Definitely to some extent. Depends a bit on the games and how exactly you define progression, but generally you're wasting time if you're grinding the same charts over and over or playing with bad technique/in bad condition, or never challenge yourself obviously. Never trying to consciously think of your technique or game settings to optimize reading will also most likely not help. But you will still need lots of time to actually git gud, no way around that.

good to know. i guess it takes a bit of critical thinking and less autopiloting than i would hope since reasonably challenging yourself (not doing easy over and over) and good technique is required to progress more quickly.
im just afraid im going to hard plateau at a certain skill level and never be able to play the highest difficulties where the real fun is.
and i see progression as getting better at playing harder charts accurately, both familiar and sight read ones.

>you will still need lots of time to actually git gud,
yeah im just doomposting from the feeling that i'll never git gud no matter how hard i try. ty for discussing.

My favorite thing about SDVX is playing a 13 or 12 from Booth/Infinite Infection and it having charting/patterns that you don't see usually until 15s/16s.

Depends on what kind of information you consider useless.

No, because answers like "join x discord and ask again there" doesn't answer the question and because it's terrible mindset both from a data rentation and general knowledge sharing perspective should the server/Discord shut down. Look up digital dark age.

>im just afraid im going to hard plateau at a certain skill level and never be able to play the highest difficulties where the real fun is.
desu there's still a lot of fun charts to play at like 60% of the max difficulty. It's only when you get to charts where there's only like one note every second that you can't do anything fun with the patterning

As for getting better:
Always have score goals to work on for each level
Use community tier lists for levels you're trying to break into
Don't be afraid to drop down 2-3 levels and just work on fundamentals. If you can't perfect something consistently, it's still worth playing

Like you said, autopiloting is a bad habit. If you don't know how to hit a pattern, either play something easier or study the chart.
Lots of communities have chart viewers online that you can study and figure out how to hit at your own pace

Speed changes actually tend to be nice and reactable in modern PIU charts compared to most other games that have them. The problem is throwing a random 24th stream at you that you have to memo as 16th bracketing. Actively having to ignore misleading information in order to anmitsu is retarded. That and shit like literally invisible hold notes that will instantly kill you if you miss them.
