Miyako is The Main Heroine. The game spends a large amount of its time pushing this, while simultaneously giving her side character amounts of screen time. When she IS on screen, it's almost always for servicing the "hey, she has a cat-like personality, isn't that funny???" thing they chose for her character. She's aggressively mediocre.

Yua, on the other hand, is a thermonuclear bitch. She hates basically everyone, especially the MC, and her driving trauma is profoundly stupid. If the game had tempered this with a 調教 route I might have gone for her. It wasn't even a problem of that kind of content being too extreme for the tone of the VN -- Rui's H-scenes prove that the writer/publisher was fine with it. No potential catharsis really discourages me from even wanting to read her route.

On the flip side of the coin, Kirame is a cute cinnamon roll which makes it hit pretty hard when you're forced to dump her at her most vulnerable points if you choose another heroine and Rui mixes decent bants and reasonable chemistry with very hot H-scenes. I'd rate the heroines Rui > Kirame >>>>> Miyako > Yua.

It looks intimidating because of the long sentences but, if you take a minute trying to read it, you can see how it easily divides in various sentences that are loosely subjunctive if not plain conjunctive. After a few pages you'll get used to it.
When reading it a bit faster, you are almost reciting a poem in prose. That flow is lost in translation or when reading really slow, usually because of lack of vocabulary.
He doesn't use purple prose with obscure kanji on purpose, like some seem to think. It's just a bit above average vocabulary level, but nothing out of the ordinary for a novel. Again, just look at that image and try to identify any kanji trolling. He even uses furigana to help the reader with foreignisms , not even Nasu-style.
All I can say is that it's one of the best reading experiences I had in the eroge genre (more than 200 nukige marked on my dick).
The story is good, to put it in a few words, about growing and manning up (the protagonist is a coward piece of shit who dilapidated the money on women and booze until his family banished him). All the heroine routes are decent, and then he manages to wrap it all up in a phenomenal, really satisfactory way.
